Just wanted to post how much I *love* Isobel! I am VERY sensitive to perfumes (and chemicals generally) -- and I can wear Isobel without any problem. My sister also loves it and thinks it smells like Dr. Haushka skincare products (which smell great!).

I'm looking forward to trying a few other fragrances.

Thanks AL! And, the make-up is to die for. I cannot believe how wonderful it is...looks and feels AMAZING.

30, dark brown hair/eyes, fair coloring. Glissade 2Y. Favorites: laurel, cedar, impatiens, grenadine lips; nectar blush; wistful color wash.

Isobel is my all time favorite fragrance from AL. To my nose it's like fine wine in that it gets better w/age; it seems to get a richer, longer lasting scent the longer it sits on my shelf, whereas chemical based fragrances get rank w/age.
Welcome, and Enjoy! Smile

I love Isobel, too! It's my wintertime staple and Adelaide, which is my all-time fav, is my summer scent.

I get migraines and cannot wear any synthetic fragrances. I can't even stand to wear clothing that has been washed with regular laundry detergent or fabric softener! But I can wear AL's fragrances, which is really fun after 20 years or so of no perfume!

I wear Voile in 2C (not that you can tell from my avatar!) and love, love, love Porcelaine for the oil control!

Typically when it comes to fragrance I'm not much of a true/pure floral lover. I like spices, fruits, woodsy and herbal tones too much. However Isobel is a definite departure for me as well. So when I'm having one of those real girly days this is the one I reach for!
Wink Ella

Classic pale Ivory with freckles & pink flush tones. Now that I'm gradually graying, my hair color is constantly evolving. Currently a dark golden brunette (think a darker Mocha with some lighter golden brown highlights). Blue/Grey Eyes with flecking of brown, gold & khaki in the iris.

With fall finally settling in here, I'm about a 2 level Y(3)/L(1) at the moment, wearing more of the neutral tones-warmer neutral tones. In my natural state, I'm a true Winter from CMB. But I can easily get away mixing things up seasonally. White Gold/Platinum/Silver for jewelry, but can (and do) easily wear copper, rose gold and antiqued gold tones.

Now that's interesting, Ella! I don't find Isobel girly or floral at ALL. To me, it's dark, warm and spicy, which is why I like it for winter. Amazing how different our sense of scent is! (Say THAT three times fast! LOL!)

Ellen,
"Amazing how different our sense of scent is!"
Or how differently we wear a scent (all that individual skin chemistry).

Come to think of it, Isobel does have some spicey-ness to it on me as well, but the floral notes outweigh the spice notes when I wear it. It is defnitely a "heavier" scent than Adelaide or Madeleine when I wear it, so I understand you leaning towards it more in winter. Adelaide is a fav spring/summer scent of mine. If I had a signature scent out of AL's, it would be Madeleine so far!!! It's the one I brainlessly reach for the most.

Kristen is my night out (with hubby) scent! Dulcinea I need to sample again, LOL. It's been quite a while and I've forgotten (shame on me Red Face) where it fits into my scent "picture".

Well there you go, you just can't go wrong with any of AL's fabulous fragrances!!!

I was wondering how long AL's perfumes last on other people. I love the scents, but they disappear after about 30-45 minutes. Does this happen to anyone else?

Hi, Kelly!

AL scents, being made from all-natural essential oils, don't last as long as those made from synthetic chemicals. I find that they last several hours on me, though.

One thing you might try.... I've noticed that they stay on clothing longer than on skin. Spray a little on the fabric of your shirt, as well as on your wrists or neck or whatever. After I get dressed, I usually spritz a little down the front of my shirt, which hits the skin of my neck/chest and the fabric, too.

I also carry a little spray bottle in my purse and give myself a little spritz if I notice the scent is gone.

Ellen's already given you some great information. Here is the information from the main fragrance page on our website:

Natural fragrances are very different than their synthetic counterparts. They are more subtle, more complex, more therapeutic and have less staying power. This is due to the volatile nature of essential oils and plant extracts. They evaporate faster than synthetics. While this is a frequent complaint of many natural perfume wearers, it is intrinsic to wearing and enjoying a natural perfume. You simply get more chances to enjoy it because you need to apply more often!

I find that, like Ellen, the scents last for several hours on me. However, your unique skin chemistry can react differently, causing the scent to dissipate more rapidly.

Or, it could be just that you have become accustomed to the scent, and are just no longer noticing and registering it, although others may be able to notice.

Isobel is my favorite too. But I was searching for a Spring and Summer fragrance ... one that I have been using for a while is being discontinued (of course ...LOL) That is how I found AL! It was a very fresh scent with Marjoram, White Thyme, Hyssop, and Lavender. Isobel is not similar, but I find I like it very much. But it does not stay on me either. So I guess I will spray my shirt or maybe bra in the morning and then reapply as wanted. I did think maybe I was just used to it, but others say they can't smell it either.

Anyway, Kristen, is there any other new fragrances in the offing? All of them are great, but I would still like to find something similar to the one I used before.

I also blend some of the fragrance into jojoba oil or lotion and apply it as a body moisturizer. I also spay some in my hair or into my hand and then apply it to my hair. These techniques seem to make the scent last longer too.

Take care,
Tracie
