I recieved my sample of Giselle today. It isn't a scent I can see myself wearing but more of a scent I would like to smell on other people. Particularly my boyfriend!

On me, it smelled like pine. I think that was the clary sage? I didn't get ANY of the grapefruit or ylang ylang notes. Of course, fragrances smell differently on different people, but on me it was a very unisex scent. It dried down to a warm vanilla and something that was reminiscent of the dry-down of one of the other AL fragrances, but I can't put my finger on which one it is. My BF doesn't like traditional fragrances (he says they're too strong and artificial to his nose), so I'm going to give him the rest of my sample to see if he likes it. It's very pleasant and I like it; I hope he'll wear it. :-)

Coloring: 1.5 level skin with yellow undertones, hazel eyes, medium golden/reddish brown hair color. Surprisingly, I look best in neutral and cool-toned makeup. Love greys and pinks. Current Favorites: Magnetism gel liner, Rocks! Rouge in Breathless, Pinafore Color Cream, Adelaide EDT, Delicate Vanilla Bean Lipbalm, Ondberry and Maylily Spring Solstice!

i completely agree. smelling it out of the bottle wasn't the best but once it warmed up on my skin it improved greatly but i still didn't care for it. althoug i am very picky about the scents that i wear (i've been wearing a mix of patchouli, mango, and peach oils for over a decade and haven't found anything i like as much). my fiance, jen, didn't like it either so i ended up giving the sample to a male friend and it smelled amazing on him.

It smelled great on my boyfriend, but he didn't want a full-size because it's called Giselle, and he thinks that's too girly and doesn't want to tell anyone he's wearing a fragrance called Giselle if they ask what it is. LOL. If any of the other AL addicts on here have significant others who are not so silly, they might like it too.

Your mix of mango, peach, and patchouli sounds great. Do you mix it up yourself?

Hmmm...You ladies have given me the idea of sneaking some on DH and seeing how he likes it (I won't mention the name). I can't really wear it either because it's just too intense.

All this talk of Giselle has me really intrigued - it sounds like it might be right up my alley, since I tend to like spicier, drier, more androgynous scents on myself...

Must add a purse sized flacon to the cart!

My coloring - Fair, naturally curly dark red hair, freckles (light golden), combo to oily skin, use 1W Glissade and/or Voile, although I can and have worn 1Y, 1Y/L, and 1Y/L/00 at different times. Would describe my coloring as neutral - not a classic Autumn, not really a Winter, maybe more of a Late Fall?

Loida let me try her Giselle & I found it interesting. It seemed to smell a little like black licorice & maybe... grapefruit?.. on me.

Nadja,
Have you ever tried/smelled patchouli & amber together? I use to have some in resin form, but I can never get it to smell as good in liquid. I think I always get too much patchouli...

Hey B, let us know how you like it, I'm curious. I'm also curious how this smells on other boyfriends/fiances/husbands if anybody else tried it. :-)

Amber Leigh...I think that is grapefruit you're smelling. That's one of the notes listed on the site. You're lucky, I wish the grapefruit came through on me!

i've never tried amber and patchouli on myself but a friend of mine use to wear that combo. i think she put just the smallest bit of patchouli on just her wrists and then loaded on the amber on pulse points on neck and under knees. that way the patchouli didn't take over the amber scent like it does when it's mixed. hope that helps. Smile
