I'm going to my stepbrother's wedding on the 18th, and at the moment, I am going through this phase of not being creative or having the energy to do my makeup (I'm in a depressive phase, and doing little things like my makeup feel like a chore). I was hoping to get some suggestions as to how I should do my makeup on the day.

Just as a refresher, this is my dress:

And this is the necklace I think I am going to wear with it:

I have a ton of samples at my disposal. I have complete sets of every collection, or I should have by the beginning of next week, except for most of the Pure Rouges (I'm waiting on Nectar, Tawny, and Pomegranate). I just don't know where to start. Help? Anyone? I'll give you a cookie!

And yes, I am searching through the quick combos, but I kind of want to see what sort of suggestions I can get specific to my dress. Do I go neutral? Or do I go dramatic? I'm not sure I want to draw that much attention to myself. Maybe just a cat eye with a dark lipstick would work. I've been a bit obsessed with finding a blood-red burgundy lippy (MAC discontinued my all-time favorite, Verushka, several years ago), with no results.

Would Juliette be a deep, dark burgundy shade?

One idea I had for my eye makeup was to start with one Bete Noire shade and go from there. However, I keep getting stuck.

Gah! Don't know! *headDESK*

Juliette might be a good one, yeah. I have Fling, which I love, and I'm fair like you. I put it on very lightly so it doesn't' look too dark on me, but you can try it darker to see.

I like your idea of a neutral eye with some dark cat eye liner and a dark-red lip. I think it would look great with your pretty dress.

To me Juliette is a bit more brown and Fling is a purply red - but of course, that's with my coloring.

Ooh... I love the Bete Noires! I just posted a FOTD with Darcelle which is an olive with aqua sparks:
http://tinyurl.com/ll57ed

I was going to suggest Sabine for you. Here's Zhariel wearing it, plus Aurelie and Psyche:
http://tinyurl.com/n9p6pp

And another lovely Bete Noire look that you could rock! Here's Bridget wearing Viviane:
http://tinyurl.com/noeczm

Hope this helps you get an idea of different Bete Noire looks on different people. My photos were taken outside without flash, so the color looks quite sheer in the photo, but more sparkly in person. You can see the full effect of sparkle in Z's and Bridget's indoor photos. You may want to taylor your make-up application based on where most of your photos are taken.

If I want to try something and am not sure about a color, sometimes I do a search for the shade I'd like to try to see if it's in a FOTD. The FOTD's are very helpful that way.

HTH And have fun!
-Melissa

I think instead of doing the cliche black eye/red lip (which I love and definitely has a place in my heart!) you should do something else.

You have a really gorgeous eye colour so why not play it up.I am thinking you go for a really pretty jewel tone on your eyes and a maybe a mauvey-berry colour for you lips and cheeks.Just applied lightly so as not to compete with your eyes.

I think this would give you that really rich, luxe look and still be dark and dreamy.

The Betes would be great collection to work from for your eyes as well.

I think Darcelle or Colette might look really lovely for you for this look. What would you think of trying a light aqua on your lid with Darcelle or Colette in your crease/outer vee and Daphne to highlight?

I would definitely say that trying Juliette or Sylvie would be good for your lips too.

I like the idea of using Darcelle with a light aqua colour. I've never really played with colours beyond browns, greens, purples, black and gray or silver.

I really do need a burst of creativity...

Just a quick thought: if I wore a dark eye, what would I wear for my lips? Do I do neutral lips? Or do I do a dark lip like I am normally used to?

I think you could still do a deeper shade but go a little bit more sheer with it.

I think for my lips I'll end up using Melancholia since I don't have any of the lipsticks yet (just placed my order today). Or I could use my samples. I just find that using the lippy from the sample bag is harder for me since I get it all over. I have all of the Gothic Lolita lippies, and then I have samples of the nourishing lipsticks, and the sonic liptints.

As for blush, I'll probably use Dolly or Corset (though I could try one of the sonic rouges).

Dammit! I have no idea what to do with my makeup that day. *sigh*

The only thing I know for certain is that I will be using Black Out gel liner because I always wear black eyeliner (I still have to figure out how to put that stuff on my waterline using my bent eyeliner brush).

Melancholia will work just fine instead of Sylvie or Juliette.

I'd probably go for a subtle dusting of Dolly with a darker eye.

Using Darcelle with a light aqua or a silver might be very pretty.

Do the eye plushes have an aqua colour? I know they have some blues, but from what I saw, I don't think I saw anything that looked aqua.

Feather Boa would probably be the closest thing to aqua in the Eye Plush, since it's a blue-green. Dew Pure Hue is also good for a light aqua color.

Dew looks like a good choice. If I use Dew and Darcelle, what would I use as my highlight colour? Would something like Odette work? Or maybe Envy pure hue?

I would maybe choose a creamy matte highlighter such as Oyster? Or maybe Daphne if you want a non-matte?

Okay. So here is the plan based on all of your help, ladies.

Tomorrow I will test-drive Dew Pure Hue with either Darcelle or Colette in my crease/vee (depends on my mood), and I will most likely use Daphne to highlight. Then on my cheeks I will wear either Dolly, or an apple coloured, matte blush that I need to use up. And on my lips, I will wear Melancholia.

And if that doesn't work, I'll ask for more help - if that's okay.

Thanks for all the help!

Sounds good Smile

If you don't like how Dew looks, other suggestions would be:
Pure Hue Heaven
Hot in the City Return to Tiffany's
Opulent Lustre Lotus
Lustre Isadora
Lustre Celeste
Gothic Lolita Aqua Nightmare
Frost Azure
Satin Petals Coriander

Alternately if aqua doesn't work for you, try Lola, as it's a very pretty misty grey.

Is it going to be odd that my eye makeup won't match anything I am wearing?

Not at all. Darcelle will really bring out the color of your eyes. Plus, the color of your dress is very neutral. It will go with about any color of make-up you wear. I personally love browns with aqua and olive.

Have fun experimenting with your look! And please come back here with pics of what you end up doing.

I was going to suggest elegie, if you have any of it... BUT it seems to me that you'll be perfect without it.
