I'm normally a neutral brown/golden kind of girl. Sometimes I throw in blues or greens, but it never turns out quite like I picture in my head.

What are some new color combinations you ladies think could work for me? I will appreciate all feedback and opinions! Smile

Happy to help out! So I did this using paint. I just created my own custom colors and drew them on your picture, and if they looked good, I kept them, cruddy, threw them away! You should try it! (And I should try it!) You seem to be according to that color seasons thing a summer with a bit of spring. (I don't really believe in it because there are officially only 4 classifications that I can read about online). But if you want to check it out, here is the url:
http://www.beauty-and-the-bath...-Color-Analysis.html

Anyways, I hope you like the color choices and you can match them up to some shadows. Definitely sample before you buy. There is free shipping on samples and they last a while. Hope this helps a bit!

Is it that you're not happy with the colors or your application? I think you could wear just about any color and look great! Check out some of MO2A's tips on You Tube, maybe you'll find some new application techniques that will make you happier with your choices!!

Yes, definitely check out momof2angels youtube videos. They helped me out a lot. And check out the FOTD's. Also, I read somewhere that if you aren't used to wearing bright colors, it is best to start out with just a smidge in the outer corner of your eye, and then blend, blend, blend. And pair the bright color with a neutral. And keep a neutral lip until you are more comfortable with the brighter look. Or line with a bright color and do the rest neutral. Or, if you are feeling VERY adventurous Smile line with a bright color, do everything else (base, crease, highlight) neutral, and then a smidge of color in the outer corner. I'll try posting some bright/neutral looks in the future. OOh, and check out girl1der. She usually does a neutral with a smidge of color. She even has a slideshow of her AL looks!
Now I am going to bombard you with eyeshadow colors I picked out for you. Sorry, I couldn't resist...

Try mixing jade and grass or jade and arbor

Thanks! Those color swatches are really helpful... and I think I even have some of these colors.

Cin, I'm going to watch some of Melissa's videos to look for some new applications. I think it's a bit of both that bothers me. Whenever I try something new, it doesn't turn out right. I'm especially bad at eyeliner, that's why I never use it.

So I tried my hand at a few different colors earlier, thus the result of three different eyes. I had to work with the colors I already own, but now I have a good idea of what I want to get in my next order! I did variations of pink, green, and purple. The pink was my personal favorite with purple as a close second. The green I didn't like so much... but I don't have many green shades to choose from. Mind you, I have on no foundation or anything! And I have a lazy eye... that's why the purple one looks so droopy.

First Eye:
Peony all over lid
Fanclub on top of that
Ophelia after that and on lower lash line
Hazelnut in outer crease
Snow on brow bone

Second & Third Eye together: (I was too lazy to do 2 separate eyes...)

Googoomuck all over lid and lower lash line
Isadora after that
Estranged after that
Smokescreen lightly in the outer crease

stillinhollywood all over lid and lower lash line
Alexandrite next
Orchid lightly on that
Amaryllis in crease

I think they all look great on you, but I do agree the pink is the best Smile

I also have blue eyes and I find it really hard to wear green shadows. I've tried lots of different greens but it seems like the greens always compete with my blue eyes rather than complement my eyes! But I still wear greens sometimes for something different Wink

There is only one green so far that I like to wear on a regular basis... and that is Gothic Lolita Divine Intervention. It's like green/gold/sparks of blue all rolled into one! Smile

I love Divine Intervention! So pretty!

I'd try Moss or even DI as a liner over a more neutral eye with creams and browns -- that way you get a pop of color, but nothing overwhelming.

I just ADORE Miss K's samples -- perfect for several applications of eye liner so I can play with colors and not worry about wasting money. I've found a lot of new favorites that way.

Yes, I also think pink and purple are the best. I love the first look! And the pink w/ purple is a close second Smile For the green, definitely try what Natasha said. Try lining with the brighter green colors too! Or just a smidge in the outer crease over a neutral eye...

I'm really in love with stillinhollywood now. It's a color I wasn't to keen on at first. Or Peony for that matter. I saw the pink and thought "Whoa that's bright!".

I will definitely try some bright lining in my next few looks. Smile Thanks ladies.

Ooh stillinhollywood is a great color! It's a lot of ladies' favorite purple (mine included)! I think it's one of those rare purples that looks great on both warm and cool skintones!

I'm partial to the pink/purple look too, but they both look good!

StillinHollywood is definitely a great color. And even if colors are a bit bright, you can apply them using a fiber optic brush and they'll go on quite nicely. If you're still unsure, you can always mix with another color - a white/lighter shade can help make it overall lighter and less bright, and a black/darker shade can also tone it down, making it deeper.

Just keep on practicing, your skills will get better & better!!

Hey, you know I just read somewhere that copper shadow brings out the blue in eyes. Just a thought.

Yep -- in general, anything with an orange undertone (copper, bronze, peach, etc.) works great for making blue eyes pop because orange contrasts with blue (is on the opposite side of the color wheel). I find orangey colors especially easy to wear because of my warm skintone -- coppers are my go-to neutral if I don't know what else to wear!

Other contrasting colors that work great with blue eyes: any shade of brown, taupe, gold, yellow, pink, red, burgundy, even certain shades of purple can provide some nice contrast (especially red-purples and pink-purples, in my experience)!

That's not to say you have to wear contrasting colors -- blue-eyed gals can still wear similar colors like blue, teal, silver, grey, etc., you just need to find the right shade and/or combine them with the right colors! Smile

That's why it's great to order lots of samples!

I just rediscovered Abyss EL -- it's an amazing teal/gold/silver that's a great liner for my bluish/greenish/grayish eyes and pale warmish skintone.

Cookie Party is also a great color for blue eyes.

P.S. You have a different eye shape than I have encountered. They seem to protrude a bit and are a bit round. Please don't feel bad! They are very pretty. Just there are different techniques for different eye shapes. So I googled some pages about shadow application in relation to eye shapes:

http://skindeco.blogspot.com/2...-101-eye-shapes.html

http://www.realsimple.com/real...1863,1709967,00.html
http://www.cityline.ca/fashion...tegoryName=Eyeshadow

Basically what they have in common is you should try to elongate your eye shape by applying liner more heavily on the outer corners of the upper lash line and extending that to just beyond the lash line. Then shade begining from the end of the lash line up into the outer 1/4 of the crease, leaving a "u" shape by skipping the shading on your lid.

Here is the idea of the shading. I saw this somewhere, but cannot remember where now

horselover, your researching is very helpful! Smile I will have to try some of this today since I don't have to work until tonight.

And girl_geek, I've always found that my go to colors are shades of brown and gold. It's something I always know I can work with.

I did a look the other day with Fox and Adobe on the lid with Burnt Roses in the outer crease. It turned out really nice.

Hi - I'm so late to this thread, but wanted to chime in a bit, too!

I also love the pink and purple looks best, I think because of the contrast they give with your amazing eyes.

Stillinhollywood is a terrific color, one I don't play with nearly enough. But I did an awesome look the other day using it on the lid, used Copper Pure hue wet in the inner corner top and bottom (basically outlining the tear duct) then blending the edges when dry. Slowburn accented the outer V and under lower lashes sorta thick and smokey (but transparent), then rockbottom at the very very very outer V and over the crease, and a touch more slowburn over the socket bone to blend. Made my usually greye green-blue eyes look like sparkling aquamarine jewels. It was pretty cool. Sadly, no pics.

There's a fun book by Rae Morris, and she talks about colors of shadows for various hues of eyes - beyond blue, green, hazel, brown, really looks at weather the eyes are warm or cool in their hue. I'll pull it together for you later today.

-b.

**********************
My coloring - Fair, naturally curly dark red hair, freckles (light golden), combo to oily skin, use 1W Glissade and/or Voile, although I can and have worn 1Y, 1Y/L, and 1Y/L/00 at different times. Would describe my coloring as neutral - not a classic Autumn, not really a Winter, maybe more of a Late Fall?
