After having many ideas run through my head, I've decided to go with what I would consider an "everyday" goth look. It's a two part type, daytime and then a few added steps to take you into the evening.

I can't tell you what foundation shade to use, you know best, so go ahead and apply it as usual. Add a light dusting of Metamorphosis all over for an added touch.

For daytime cheeks, think light, something like Quintessential Pure Rouge. You could even go with Illuminating Perle powder in either Bloom or Halo, again, light colors. Apply on the apples and up along your cheekbones.

Eyes. The blue threw me a bit. I don't want to suggest taupes or browns, even though they'd probably be the most flattering daytime colors. I'm thinking something neutral but with a hint of wine, bordeaux. First apply a light shimmery shade like Moon or Glimmer under your browbone. For your lid, mix a bit of Fox into whichever browbone shade you choose, and apply all along the lid. In the crease, something a bit deeper, like Persephone. Not too heavy, just a light touch. Gothic liner, a thin to medium thin line along the top, and approx 3/4 of the way along the bottom (not all the way to the inner tearduct). Apply black mascara on tops and bottom lashes.

Brows - my natural hair is lighter than my current color, and I feel if I don't darken them, my eyes don't pop. You'll probably have to mix Cherokee and Brunette, your brows should be a tad darker than your hair. I think darkening them will really emphasize your eyes.

On your lips, I'd like some Noir gloss please. I don't usually use liner with gloss, but if you do, go right ahead.

Now I know you're thinking, that's not what I thought for a gothic look. I don't want you to look like a freak. Well, not just yet.

For a daytime outfit, a long, full black velvet skirt. I adore Maudite Mode's velvet skirts, but sadly her website pics really don't do her clothes justice. So what the heck, lemme just pull an outfit out of my own closet. I've paired it with matching velvet top, nice bell sleeves, lace up. Don't worry, it's actually sewn shut. This shirt is very low cut, I usually pin it to my bra straps for daytime. A nice simple necklace, nothing too fancy.

Velvet boots, nice pointy toe and mid heel. No, you cannot wear square toe or "granny" boots, because I say so!

In this case, your clothing is really what'll make you look more goth. But it's not so out of the mainstream, you should be able to wear it during the day and be ok. The nice thing about a basic full black skirt is you can wear it with a lacy blouse, a sheer blouse with velvet jacket, or even a t shirt. I've had this skirt for 5 years and wear it once a week in all but the hottest months.

We're going to rev it up a bit to take you into nighttime. But it's going to be very simple, and you'll even have a few options....very un-dictatorlike of me!

The first thing you're going to do is break out some shadow. I think either DownwardSpiral or PleasureDome would be a good choice, just go right over the crease, and make sort of a sideways "v", so it's sort of a cat eye look that will meet up with your bottom eyeliner. Take some Black Out gel liner and go right over the Gothic liner you've already got on.

Take your kabuki and apply a wee bit more foundation, you're going to go over the blush you put on earlier. It'll still be there, just barely. Apply a light dusting of Coquille in Lilas for a bit of pallor.

Take off any gloss and put on Sass. Red hot and shiny.

Your evening makeup is done.

Put on your nighttime accessories - go with a choker style or drop down necklace, something vampy. Why not a nice latex necklace?

You can also switch boots, to a nice pair of combat boots. Much easier for dancing in. Here's Docs, 14 eye, but you could go 20 eye (knee high). Ideally I'd love the all black version with higher heel, but they discontinued them. So basic Docs will do.

Hair. Mmmmm. You'll need some falls. They're not going to match your hair perfectly, they're not supposed to. I would go with a dark auburn or red auburn for a base color, and add in as many colors as you'd like. Definitely more reds, maybe something like black wine, burgundy, red, deep cherry, neon violet, and throw in a little dark purple just for fun.

If you're not familiar with falls, check out I Kick Shins, the owner makes great stuff. Click on the "loose falls" tab and scroll down to see base and accent colors. She's got instructions on how to put them in, that will also give you an idea of what they'll look like, or scroll through her gallery.

(Ian is starting to freak, so I'm cutting this short, sorry!)

You'd fit right in at any goth night out.

I honestly think this is all right up my proverbial alley. As soon as I get everything put together I'll post pics. I can't wait! Thank you SO much! ~ J Happy Dance

Sorry for the interruption....when a 22 month old decides he needs his mommy, there's no convincing him otherwise! And now my stylist is here to color my hair...

Since I've lost my train of thought....

The whole hair fall idea stems from your wanting to try a different color hair. Falls are a great way to make a change just for a night. There's quite a few sites that have them, I've purchased from I Kick Shins before, and the owner, Leperqueen, is lovely. You can also look for falls on "jaw clips" that you can just clip into your own hair. Ragdoll Weave has these, but their customer service level has dropped significantly over the past few months, so I'd be hesitant to tell you to try them.

Let me apologize again for the interruption, now it's off to get my roots touched up.

No problem cin. I remember the days of the almost 2year old. Wink Have fun getting your hair done. I am going to get started on my shopping right now! Yay!

I've seen those necklaces online a couple of places. Now off the top of my head I can't remember where, but I know I've seen them on ebay & maybe heavy red?... I'll let you know. Smile

Yes, artwithlatex.com, They've got loads of great necklaces!

I should also mention, speaking of Heavy Red (yet another of my faves!) that in the warmer months, their English Netting Skirt is a fabulous alternative to velvet. The all black is so beautiful on, the way the panels move with you when you walk. They do have a red & black one that would be perfect. You can find the discontinued purple & black one on eBay from time to time as well. If you go with the Netting Skirt then you need a pair of PVC boots for daytime; it looks great with Docs for nighttime!

Oh, I KNOW! I was looking at the site and Michael peeked at the screen and said I needed one of their pieces! I've got one or ten picked out already!

My coloring - Fair, naturally curly dark red hair, freckles (light golden), combo to oily skin, use 1W Glissade and/or Voile, although I can and have worn 1Y, 1Y/L, and 1Y/L/00 at different times. Would describe my coloring as neutral - not a classic Autumn, not really a Winter, maybe more of a Late Fall?

Okay, this is all getting way too cool! Soon, I'll be asking Cindy for a goth-like makeover! I may change my style to something more interesting and edgy. I already don't fit into the
vibe of my town, which is rather big-time RED (sorry don't want to get into politics here).

So, how do you, Melissa, or anyone, post something from a different website here?

Can't wait to see Grim's (Julie's) makeover!!!

Alright, ladies...I have all the samples needed ordered & on the way. With any luck you'll have a look pic by next week. Yay! The clothes & accessories will probably be a while in coming, but I figured I'd start with the face & work my way down. Happy Dance
