Hi! I'm a dedicated Aromaleigh user myself, and my sister's wedding is coming up next month.

My mother shuns all makeup aside from a bit of tinted moisturizer and bronzer. She's naturally beautiful, so she doesn't need much. But she's wearing a pale green dress for the wedding, and she feels it washes her complexion out just a bit.

I think for this special occasion we should put some eye color on her. I would like to help her lash line look fuller and also make her mobile lid more visible, while making her rich, dark brown eyes pop.

Here's a photograph of her. http://www.flickr.com/photos/7739573@N07/2393891456/sizes/l/

You can see at once why she feels uncomfortable wearing eye shadows, and my difficulty figuring out how to do her eyelids. Her browbone area is very prominent and actually swallows up her mobile lid when her eyes are open. Also, she has those little curving lines at the corners of her eye that give a bit of droop to the outer corner.

Can someone help me design a simple but elegant eye for her?

For me, with a similar eye color, I like the colors in the "make my brown eyes pop" collection. But I don't really think it would do to use shimmery colors above her browbone.

I thought maybe Hermia on the mobile lid and Drama Red in a very thin line on her top lashes, (with sealer, because otherwise everything will transfer). But how do I approach shading her browbone? And with what? I want to make her eyes look brighter and younger, not sunken.

I have a reasonably large collection of Aromaleigh eyeshadows to choose from. If someone recommends something I don't have, I'm always happy to get talked into a purchase!

Thanks!

Your Mom is beautiful! Is she warm or cool, and what about the dress? Any pics of the dress color?

If she's not much of an eyeshadow wearer, perhaps just a bit of a light shimmer shade just under her browbone (right at the arch, swept outward), maybe a little subtle liner and mascara would keep her feeling comfortable, like she's not wearing much at all on her eyes.

Personally, I'd love to see her play up her gorgeous lips and those cheekbones! A bit of color there could go a long way to keep her from feeling washed out in her dress. A nice YLBB lipstick topped with a nice coating of gloss infusion would really make her lips look great. And just a bit of blush, she really wouldn't need much. Again, warm or cool would help in the specific color suggestions.

Your Mom looks a lot like how I see myself in a couple years...similar coloring.

I suggest Nude Frost eye cream all over the eye with perhaps some slate or wheat (I use a mix) lightly brushed in the crease and just over the browbone. Black mascara.

Cheeks: something soft like Epitome.

Lips: Coquette lip cream with a smidge of Enthrall gloss

And if it's an evening or indoor event, Allure finishing powder dusted to highlight cheekbones or if it's outdoors and bright light, nectarine coquille to finish -- or maybe the newest finishing powder (which I haven't tried, yet)...I use nectarine every day b/c it just brightens things up, but you can't see it -- even though I work outdoors in full sunlight...

I wish my Mom would ask for a make-over.... she has such amazing eyes that could really be brought out with a bit of Seethe and Rockbottom... maybe even some Drama copper.... dreaming...

Ah, I'm not at all good at the warm/cool thing. I guess warm. But with her hair graying, maybe she's leaning more toward neutral.

She's already on the hunt for a good lip color. I'm pretty sure she's comfortable wearing a richer color than usual on her lips. I'd just like to help her get a little extra drama on her eyes, too. Not to mention give her more confidence about her eyes. I think she avoids makeup there because she thinks it's no use.

I was going to guess warm to neutral -- her skin looks peachy on my monitor. But that's a very hard thing to figure out just from a computer screen, where colors are not always accurate anyway! What colors do you think she looks best in? That might also help use figure out whether she's warm or cool!

I am curious to see what others suggest for her eyes ... judging by my current eye shape and the eyes of the older women in my family, mine will probably look a lot like that when I get older too Smile

Your mom has beautiful features. One good thing about brown eyes is that you can wear pretty much ANY color and look good. I don't have any specific suggestions for eyes Smile There are other ladies here who will be able to give you detailed application tips. I think Bella gloss infusion and a wash of blush like Epitome (I'm with Hennagirl) OR she might look good in something a hint rosy and plummy like Beauteous or Serenity. Maybe you can order a bunch of samples for her and do a few test runs so she can play with different looks.

Coloring: 1.5 level skin with yellow undertones, hazel eyes, medium golden/reddish brown hair color. Surprisingly, I look best in neutral and cool-toned makeup. Love greys and pinks. Current Favorites: Magnetism gel liner, Rocks! Rouge in Breathless, Pinafore Color Cream, Adelaide EDT, Delicate Vanilla Bean Lipbalm, Ondberry and Maylily Spring Solstice!

Hmm...have to find out if she has any lipcolor in mind. Those sound like good suggestions.

I forgot to mention the color of the dress...it's a very pale yellow (warm) green, what I'd call "celadon", almost white.

I'm interested in what might be done with her eyes, because of course mine are going to be just like that!

The way shadows fall, it tends to make her look sleepy. That's what I'd like to figure out how to combat.

One of the easier tricks for waking up 'sleepy' eyes is a bit of slightly shimmery pale shadow right at the inner corner, basically right where the tear ducts are. It seems to make the eyes look wider and more alert. I use that all the time (especially when I'm not getting enough sleep). Wink

Just that combined with a dramatic liner--a rich brown to be subtle, or you could even do a dark green to play up the dress--and some volume enhancing mascara would go a long way. I also agree with others who've mentioned blush. If she feels washed out, that's going to make the biggest difference. And maybe Nuance or Tender on the lips, something with a bit of punch to it without being overwhelming. Smile

All of the above suggestions are great. Tell you mom that she does need to be a bit more dramatic, for the wedding photos. She will not look like she has a lot of makeup on in the photos, but her features will show up nicely.
