NOTE: I don't know what brand of makeup was used but I'm hoping to find equivalent colors in AL.

My reward for losing 8 lbs was to have a spa day. My boyfriend decided he wanted to pay for it and send me to a really posh spa so I got a total makeover. I got my eyebrows waxed (thank goodness!), manicure, pedicure, haircut/style, and a free make-up application.

I was really happy when I sat down with their makeup artist that she was open to doing mineral makeup. I told her about AL and talked about it and makeup applications pretty much the whole time.

Face:
1. Liquid foundation primer all over
2. Custom mixed foundation that was sort of warm.

She didn't do any kind of cover up for my trouble spots but I think it was okay because I looked more natural. Even though my underlying skin tone is yellow I have a ton of pink in my face around my nose, chin and forehead so she made the foundation warmer. I think I need to play around with some more glissade shades.

Eyes:

1. Eyebrow - Clear browset (AL's Clear Mascara/Brow Fix)
2. ivory - all over eye as a base
3. taupe - Crease and on brow bone
4. dark brown - in the "v" but very blended
5. champagne - all over lid
*All colors were somewhat shimmery except the ivory
6. dark brown eyeliner - for this she used a slanted brush and brushed the pencil and used the brush to apply it. It looked much better than using a pencil directly and she was able to work it in to the lash line.
7. brown mascara - top and bottom lashes

She used an eyelash curler on me and said that she recommended I get a shiseido brand curler because they're more curved and will match my eye shape better than american brands. She also said to watch out for curlers where the bottom pad doesn't go all the way to the edge (such as my current revlon one) because it'll miss some eyelashes. She curled the lashes in sections and was pretty aggressive about it.

Cheeks:

1. Champagne - this was the same color she used on my eyes. She brushed it on the cheekbone from outside to inside.
2. Barisha Babe Blush - just an the apples of the cheek

Lips:

1. Twig Lip Liner - lined the lips and then filled in for more color
2. Copper gloss - all over

Woot! What a great reward!!!! You look radiant in both pix, but more polished in pic 2.

Sounds like you had a lot of fun...

Maybe I need a bribe like that from my husband.... I have a couple dozen pounds I could lose...

I had a good time. I was really nervous before I went because I though they'd be snobby about the fact that I'm a country bumpkin who's never paid more than $35 for a haircut. Instead, everyone was really nice. The pedicure was to die for. I'm used to tiny, angry little asian women who scrub the crap out of my feet and don't stop to apologize if I wince when they jab me with the file. They do a good job but they're not gentle.

Overall, the haircut was the thing I was looking forward to the most. I had *way* too much hair. The stylist did a great job and even showed me how to curl my hair in what she calls the "Jessica Simpson style". Of course, at lunch afterward my boyfriend said to me, "You could wear your hair like that for a wedding" He's also made suspicious comments like, "I think you'd look good in a sleevless wedding gown." Hmm!

I definitely think you should stay with the 1Y. I think and this is just my opinion - artists's and sales associates always say that because the line they are using lacks the sufficient yellow that matches our skin tones. I can definitely see you are a Y in your picture. Congratulations on the weight loss and having a day to yourself. You look beautiful!!!

you look incredible!!! what a treat, I'm dieting now Boo Hoo Hoo and plan on rewarding myself with a new tattoo at the 10 pound mark. A spa-day will be next!! As for equivalents, A good Ivory AL shade is Fiona Lustre, not matte but has a very fine slight shimmer to it. Taupe- try foxglove or balsam. Dark brown- rockbottom, willow or umber. Congrats on the weight loss!

*33 y/o- blonde, green eyes, fair skin. Fave AL stuff- 1YL glissade, metamorphosis, bella gloss, rocks rouge in breathless, Ozone, pewter, smokescreen, snapdragon, estranged*
