okay, so technically this isn't an AL makeover, but I figured this could go here just as well as anywhere else I finally took the plunge and coloured my hair, going from dark blonde to dark red!

what do y'all think? personally I love it! DH also gave it two thumbs WAY up, said it totally suits me. I don't think either of us will take long to get used to it.

btw, even tho' I'm busy enough that I don't post much myself, I do still stop in to read posts and admire everyone's pretty mu looks love that we've got some new ladies who've jumped right in to posting pix, YAY!

Looks great! This is a surprisingly cool red, it really does make your skin look creamy (that's first thing I noticed!) and your eyes pop, as Lin said! I bet with this new hair color, you could pull off some awesome cool and/or dramatic makeup looks

Also, is the hair darker on the bottom or is that just how the light is reflecting off it? When I straighten my hair, the parts that reflect the camera flash always look much ligher (and shinier!) than the parts that are at the wrong angle to reflect the light

I saw a smaller pic on FB-but now that i can see you better I'm blown away! I think Bridget summed it up well.

Lin, one of the first things I noticed is how much my eyes POP now - love it! my mum said I look like "not so much peaches and cream as ripe strawberries and cream," I guess that's a good thing!

Bridget, it def has more edginess to it than the blonde, huh? and out here in a regional market in the entertainment industry, edge = advantage! (seriously, in Utah ya can't swing a dead cat w/o hitting a blonde ) DH also said something to the effect of "now everyone else can see the feistiness I have to live with" LOL

sparklekitty, I'm happily married but your warning doesn't go amiss even re: my DH: "I've never been married to a redhead before, this could be kinda fun!" lol

GG, I got the cooler red I was hoping for, more neutral than something coppery, and I'm really happy w/the result - looks like I'll still be able to wear almost all of my clothes! (nothing has to go in a box labeled "blonde clothes" LOL) and the hair on the bottom must just have caught the light weird, it's as red/bright as the rest of it.

Elena, I'm glad you said something about that FB pic being so small, maybe I should post a bigger one somewhere - I'll have to figure out how to do that this weekend, thx!

this might sound really weird, but I kinda feel like Jean Grey in X3 - I loved how they styled her look as Dark Phoenix {G}

It's incredible!!!! Ok, ok, so I'm partial to red myself, and am convinced that there are so many blondes who would be knockouts as redheads. And here you are!! Don't get me wrong, you're so beautiful as a blonde, but the red really gets my vote!

Husbands do seem to love red hair, John's constantly after me to go back to red. Even Ian told me last month I should dye my hair red, and that was without hubby coaching him. One of these days...

Just be prepared. For reasons that I haven't ever quite figured out (and Bridget will concur with this), men see red hair they go insane. You may be hit with some pretty inappropriate questions from total strangers, and it's usually old men asking them!

Men closer to my age would politely ask if the red was natural, while perverted old men would feel the need phrase it differently, the old "does the carpet match the curtains" while laughing. Ugh!

That is a lovely description -- I was thinking that your skin looks more pink with the red hair, but not pink in a bad way

I agree with gg, it works with you and gives you a completely different look. Now you are decidedly cool toned. Your eyes are also more blue and you look sexier imo. Time to wear cooler toned shadows!
