OK, I tried my first eyeshadow mixing on Saturday and posted it in the FOTD thread. Today I tried mixing blushes Big Grin

I have been searching for the perfect clear peach blush for a while, something like Nectar but less pink. (Nectar is the perfect blush for my skintone, but sometimes I'm in the mood for something more peachy!) The peachy PR's like Ambrosia, Glazed, and Epitome all look good on me but are just a hair more muted than that clear peach shade that exists only my head Wink Rococo is gorgeous but is a bit too dark for me and looks best with a light dusting of foundation on top. Sundaygirl also looks good on me, but it's so bold I need 2-3 coats of foundation on top to tone it down to a more wearable level! (I still wear it, I just apply it before foundation!) Then I tried a sample of Peach Pure Blush, which looks perfect in the baggie but was unfortunately too sheer and/or too close to my skin color so it didn't show up on me Frown (Rosewood shows up on me, so I'm not sure why Peach didn't.)

Then I had an idea ... I mixed some Peach with a bit of Rococo and voile! A great clear peach shade that's the perfect depth for my skintone, no need to add foundation on top to tone it down! Next I want to see what happens if I mix just a tiny bit of Sundaygirl with Peach...

So the moral of the story is, if the Pure Blushes are too light for you, try mixing them into a too-dark blush to make it a bit more sheer! I see a lot of possibilities now Big Grin

It's addictive, isn't it?

Whenever you have a shade that isn't quite what you wanted, mix away and you'll have your very own concoction. This is a great way to add in bits of color that you wouldn't normally wear, or colors that aren't your tone.

Girl_geek, I can see you now, tearing open all the cool toned samples and mixing away to make them perfect for you!

You just gave me a great idea ..... I do like cool colors with contrasting warm gold/copper/etc sparkles. 14K seems to be pretty sheer and very sparkly-gold .... I'm going to have to try mixing 14K with a few cool colors now Wink

Hmmmm. What if I mixed a bit of 14K in a pink... would that make it less scary?

Uh-oh, now I just got inspired to mix with some of my sparklys (like 14K)that I don't wear alone. I just got my stillinhollywood free rocks and am in love with the added gold sparkles.

Great idea with the blush.

You bet! I was actually thinking of mixing 14K with pinks when I made that post! Sometimes the gold and pink even mix together to form a pretty peachy-pink color Smile

Smart idea!
I will try that - I am trying for a coral color not unlike Avon's Tropical Peach. For some reason that color really looked good on me.

Mixology (of every kind TeeHeeHee) is SO fun! I bet a pink with the 14k would look just gorgeous, and I want PICTURES of this blush concoction you speak of. I have yet to find a peachy shade that works well for me either, Rococo is close but not quite pink enough and a little too dark.

Hmm... time to order more samples and start blending away!
