This is an absolutely gorgeous color! I *thought* I was applying a very simple look this morning, just a few swipes of Seethe, black liner on top, Seethe wet-lined along lower lashes, black mascara. Nothing extraordinary in that application, right? I mean, I only used ONE color!

But nooooo. This has turned into the most beautiful "day time smokey eye"! I got several compliments on it, so went into the bathroom to check it out - and it's really, really a nice look for me. A little bit sexy, but not over the top. So, maybe I can handle the smokey eye after all! Whodathunkit??? Wink

Brown hair, brown eyes, tan very easily. Currently using 2W glissade foundation, w/PINK CREAM CONCEALER and PC3 or neutral dark concealer for a great undereye and age spot concealer, and also adore the Elemental Lustre Cheek Glistens and Metamorphosis; never go to bed without first using Nocturne

The PINK CREAM CONCEALER IS A MIRACLE PRODUCT - DO NOT leave home without it Wink

That's awesome! Seethe is a gorgeous color - one of my fave ELs!

Def try upping the smoke factor purposefully sometime! Sounds like a great look for you!

My coloring - Fair, naturally curly dark red hair, freckles (light golden), combo to oily skin, use 1W Glissade and/or Voile, although I can and have worn 1Y, 1Y/L, and 1Y/L/00 at different times. Would describe my coloring as neutral - not a classic Autumn, not really a Winter, maybe more of a Late Fall?

I love a really wearable smokey eye. I'll have to go check my sample binder and see if I have Seethe in there so I can try it too. Glad you found a new combo you like!

Edited to add: Darn it. I checked and I don't have it after all. Frown

Thanks for the great description, Therese. Because of it, I tried your look today.

I'm always looking for a great easy to do look and this one is definitely a keeper.

One color all over eye just using whatevers left on the brush to gently brush above the crease with the heaviest impact in the crease, medium amount on lid. Wet line under lower lid. Blackout gel liner on top lid. Black mascara. Paired with Pomegranate rouge on cheeks, and Fling lipstick on lips.

Simply beautiful!!

YES!!! Loida, I'm so glad this worked for you, too! The ELs are so complex and polished and sophisticated, it's really easy to wear just a single color and still have impact - but they're also so wearable for daytime. These are easily becoming my favorite collection!

I actually did nearly the same application today with and old sample of Virtue (foiled)and was equally as happy with the result. Now I'll need to purchase a FS before they're all gone! I know the description says it's a grey color, but I find it to be more golden-taupe on my skin. Really very, very pretty! THIS IS SUCH FUN!

I tried this look this evening!!! (after my run I had nothing better to do than play with make-up for a quiet evening at home) It's awesome! Usually smokey looks make my eyes look smaller, but Seethe doesn't do that. I did the lid application with just a bit kind of pushed up and into the crease and then brushed over the bone (coz I got big bones and need to sort of diminish the hooded look), softly smudged under the eye and then Drama Copper drylined near the lashline. What an easy and dramatic look!

I'll have to try it with Virtue tomorrow. It's such an interesting color -- I also find that it's a golden-taupey color on me. Gonna miss that collection. But I think I have enough of my faves to keep me going for a long time...

Thanks for sharing this idea. Too much fun!

i've been using the EL's a lot lately myself. i love just wearing fume from lash to brow and smudged a little on the lower lash line. just one color and it looks fabulous! esp paired with a few coats of black mascara and a dramatic colored lippie.

today i wore wonder from lash to brow & on bottom lashline and used gothic liner in the crease. a mix of gala & fling on the lips if i remember correctly. i really need to get some full sizes... the samples just aren't cutting it anymore!

The EL's are great for quick one-color looks, because they have so much dimension and shimmer to make them interesting! I love wearing Entangle all over the lid for a simple neutral look, then I can vary it up by changing the eyeliner color (I usually use brown, navy, or eggplant). Spark is another gorgeous neutral that I wear by itself, it's a bit darker than Entangle but still light enough for an everyday look for me.

Blast is also a lovely everyday color, I haven't worn it by itself but I do like wearing it on the outer 2/3 of the lid and Startle on the inner 1/3. Blast is a nice light neutral with subtle green tones -- a good way to add just a hint of color. I love pairing it with Chocolate Mousse gel liner, the contrast of dark liner with a light shimmery lid really opens up my eyes! (I normally only line the upper lid and the outer 1/3 of the lower lid. A dark color all across the lower lid usually makes my eyes look smaller.)

Awe would also probably be a good one-color neutral for me, I have a sample but haven't worn it in a long time, I should try it again!

Well, I tried this one EL color concept again today. This time using just Underworld as the one eye color. I've learned that when you apply these EL shadows in different strengths (so to speak) you get slightly different variations in colors. That's why one color kinda looks like you put on three different colors. So very cool!

I must admit that initially I've found the elemental lustres very hard to work with, even if I applied primer first (which is pretty much a must) I still didn't achieve the look I thought I would.

With this new technique (thanks again, Therese), I'm not scared anymore of my EL shadows.

BTW, Underworld looked great paired with sinisterrouge on cheeks and gossomer on lips. Also, used marcasite gel liner on upper lids.

Loida, you are so welcome!

As you said, each application method allows the same product to look slightly different. I find the ELs to be so beautiful, foiled, applied dry, wetlined - and now I'm finding that actually ALL of the AL shadows I love (which are basically all of the lusters, elemental lusters, and pure hues) work the same way! I can get a great look with one color when I'm in a hurry or want a more "simple" weekday look and don't have the time or ambition to be creative with multiple colors.

YAY!
