Hi all,
Not sure if this post should go here, but I was wondering if you essential oil experts could explain some of the basics of using essential oils. I always see people talking about using such and such oil as well as jojoba and olive oil and would love to learn how to use them but no idea where to start. Where do you buy essential oils and how much do they cost? How do you know they are of good quality as opposed to "watered down" (or maybe in this case, "oiled down" with mineral oil *gasp*)? Any other important info to know?

Helkwo,

No expert here, but if you want a list of "reputable" EO suppliers, go here for Kristen's list http://www.aromaleigh.com/sourfortherg.html (this is under the "our love for animals" button).

Marge at Nature's Gift is an Aficionada member, and if you check the Aromatherapy heading you'll see that several of us also really like dealing with Butch at Anatolian Treasures. Both of these folks carry high quality EO's.

As for using EO's, Marge's website has some good information, and there are a lot of books available. One note here - many books (too many) rely on herbal data to recommend EO uses. Properties of herbal extracts/infusions/decoctions can be greatly different from the properties of the EO of the same plant, so choose your reference books with care.

I belong to the Oils_herbs_etc. list at www.yahoogroups.com, it's a great place to ask questions & learn.

HTH!

I second Melissa's suggestions. I also was recommended a book on the boards here and love it. "The Complete Book of Essential Oils and Aromatherapy"
by Valerie Ann Worwood

I'm just getting back into E/O's after setting them aside for too long. I used to get them from a company in Iowa called Frontier and I've recently placed another order with them. So far the customer service has been excellent. I also have place an order with http://www.alittleolfactory.com/ and was very happy with what I received.

Hi,
In aromatherapy, essential oils play an important part. Only a particular essential oil is used for a particular treatment and is very important in curing the ailment. In order to get a good quality essential oil at a competitive price, a little online research is helpful. You can get more information from www.essentialoilsonline.co.uk.
