This probably sounds like a strange question, but does anyone know if there's something in the Pure Cover concealer that would help treat blemishes? The reason I ask is that I was having a stress-related breakout a couple days ago and put some Pure Cover over the pimples for the first time (I almost never wear makeup when I'm broken out for fear of making it worse, but I was being vain and I was fed up and wanted them to disappear) and the next day 2 of the 3 pimples I had were entirely gone other than some minor redness. The other was much, much smaller than it was the day before and disappeared within another day.

I never, ever have that kind of overnight change with blemishes, even with spot treatment, so it was very unusual to say the least. The only thing I did differently (other than wearing makeup in general--Glissade mixed with LUSH Vanishing Cream moisturizer to make my own tinted moisturizer) was wearing the Pure Cover. I think I read somewhere that zinc can help with inflammation, so maybe that's the wonder ingredient? I really have no idea. I dunno

It's possible it was coincidence, I guess, but since it's never happened before, it makes me wonder.

You are spot on (pun intended)! Zinc Oxide is a soothing, protecting and reducing inflammation. It's the main ingredient in diaper rash ointments, too, for the same reason.

Nice to know that you can conceal a bit and do something kind for your skin, too!

My coloring - Fair, naturally curly dark red hair, freckles (light golden), combo to oily skin, use 1W Glissade and/or Voile, although I can and have worn 1Y, 1Y/L, and 1Y/L/00 at different times. Would describe my coloring as neutral - not a classic Autumn, not really a Winter, maybe more of a Late Fall?

Thanks, Bridget! Big Grin

I'm really excited to find something that works to heal my blemishes, but to find something that covers while it works is practically a miracle. Cloud 9

It does for me, that's for sure. The only times I get pimples are when I'm under a lot of stress (like now) or if I have a bad reaction to a makeup/skincare product. Frown

Yep, all sorts of things cause breakouts! Stress, hormones, genetics, and products (makeup, skincare, hair care -- anything that might touch your skin).

Some people believe that certain foods cause breakouts too -- not in the sense that if you eat chocolate, you'll break out the next day -- if that happens, then it's actually an allergic reaction. With true acne, the pore clogs a few weeks before you see the blemish! However, some people have noticed a difference in their skin over time if they, for example, cut back on refined carbs or drink more water.

However, all acne is caused by bacteria growing in clogged pores. Those causes I listed just create changes in your skin that makes it an ideal environment for pores to clog and bacteria to grow (e.g. hormones can affect your skin's oil production making clogged pores more likely). So you can either treat the underlying cause if you know it (e.g. bc for hormonal imbalances), or you can simply treat all kinds of acne with exfoliation (physical or chemical) to unclog pores and antibacterial/antibiotic products to kill the bacteria. Anti-inflamatories like the Pure Cover and Nocturne can help reduce redness and swelling.
