I just wonder how many people are going to receive these letters. 3 so far.

I'm sure there will be more. Just last week I saw someone saying on Makeup Alley that Aromaleigh products suck, that I'm a total psycho nutjob, and that all of my products are repackaged garbage. I think I'll send them a C&D... um, NOT!

Part of doing business online is dealing with people expressing their opinions in ways that you don't like. Believe me... I've had more than my fair share of craziness, and I've been called hundreds of names, had various lies posted in all flavors, and dealt with a lunatic company owner who spent more time trying to put me out of business than she did shipping orders (Thankfully, she went out of business, never to be heard from again, as she'd stolen thousands of $ from customers in not shipping orders)

With all of this said and done, I have sent TWO cease and desist letters in my entire time doing business. One, to a pet product company that was directly ripping me off- every single product and product name. Two, to a Delphi Forum (still open) who's hostess allowed an extremely long thread that was extremely defaming to my business and character- I don't know how many of you remember the Epinions scandal on MM Mania, but it was really awful. My attorney couldn't believe what she was reading when we opened it on her computer.

These were two very extreme cases in which I felt compelled to send letters. Hundreds of other things have happened over more than a decade that I certainly *could* have sent a C&D, but what a waste of time. It's better to focus back on your business than nitpick like this person is.

To send someone a C&D over a private email? That's preposterous. On this basis, I'd have sent thousands of C&D's by now.

To send someoe a C&D over a blog review, that was opinion? Again, ridiculous. Not everyone is going to review you positively, and if you can't deal with that, then you shouldn't be cooking in a hot kitchen.

Why I got one? A total mystery... I've read and re-read my twitter account and there's nothing there that is defaming, and causing substantial loss of business to this company.

So yes- I am sure that a lot more people will receive the boilerplate C&D, sent from the newbie attorney, paraphrased from person to person, complete with spelling errors.

I've yet to receive my "certified letter"... and when I do, the only thing I'll do with it is save is as a souvenir of this insanity... because how can you cease and desist when you're not doing anything wrong to start with? Sure beats me...
