Hi ladies!

Although I'm new here and you barely even know me, I would like to issue a challenge to all the 40 and over gals that have not yet done so to post before and after pics. Trust me, I know it's scary (see my "girlder" post of before/after pics on this forum) but a lot of us over 40 gals could really benefit from seeing what a difference AL really makes and what works for more "mature" skin.

If you are brave enough to post your pics, please kindly list what products you used and what order you use them in if you are layering.

Thanks a bunch!

Robyn

I'm 44 and my b4 and after is up. I tend to wear neutrals on a regular basis. I got both Naughty and Nice kits for X-Mas and I really adore the colors. I've been using the cheek glistener as a lid color -- and it's perfect. very neutral, but just a wee bit of shimmer. Some latte in the crease (and on the brows b/c they're greying, sigh); a little Willow as an eyeliner and I'm done. Except for a little blush (rosewood) and concealer -- and a dash of pink coquille on top of my Irish black circles...

I just discovered Roccoco blush -- and while it looks scary in the jar, it's just wonderful on! And the matching Wallflower lip creme is a fantastic color.

Today I had a job interview, so I wore Spark lustre (a nice soft copper) with Earthen Sage in the crease and v-ed at the corner. Again, willow to line and a smidge of brown mascara. Limbo elemental lipbalm -- and I looked polished and professional. (I hope)

Nice meeting you!

Remember, age ain't nuthin' but a number -- and listen to the Uppity Blues WOmen if you want to hear that message with soul....

Hi Hennagirl!

So nice to meet you too. It's possible that I have seen your b/a pics in the past, but as of today, your photos (except for the close-up of your eye) don't show on your b/a post. [edited to include the following: I finally was able to view your b/a pics. Awesome!

Also, my challenge was specifically geared to those over 40 women who have not yet posted pics so I hope to see some new ones real soon.

I will try to remember to do this when I get home tonight but it will not be all AL products since I just started using and am trying to use up my old foundation before trying Glissade.

I don't think it's so much of the fear of posting, it's more like the technical difficulty. I have to find my tripod, and my camera doesn't have the macro setting so the photos are not that good. I'm used to my 35mm that I set the shutter speed, f-stop, and can change the lense.
I will have to do it on the weekend where I have more time with my makeup off. We'll see if we can get it to work.

Robyn, welcome to the board. I haven't put any pics on here in a long while (and now I've forgotten how, lol). Anyway, I'm 48 years old and have been using Aromaleigh products for about two years. I use Glissade in 1Y (but think I need to add a little bit of 1W), and love Honey and Belladonna lipsticks. I also use the AR makeup primer over my moisturizer before applying the Glissade for a smoother look.

lyndz ~ i know what you're talking about. i only own 35mm cameras & it's really tough to get a good shot of yourself... and then develop the film, get prints, scan them on to the computer, and so on. fortunately my wife has a nice little digital camera. it's not the greatest, doesn't take very good close-ups, but at least i have one simply for posting pics online.

Hi ladies Hi I keep checking back here just in case someone decided to post. It looks like a few more of you might be getting ready to (yeah!). In the meantime, I have been busily browsing old posts to find photos of 40 and overs and to read what products they use in my neverending quest to not accentuate my wrinkles. Wink

Lin, I did come across one of your photobucket links and found a beautiful picture of you there. Your avatar (although a cute pic) does not truly do you justice.

Lyndz, I can't wait to see your photo and read about what you use as well.

Hope to see you all soon.

Well, one new trick I've just learned to help over 40 skin is this- pink finishing powders. Even though I wear 2YL to counteract redness in my skin and match my face to my neck, the pink powders(rose coquille, cherry blossom and magnolia divine radiance)brighten my complexion. I think they work in the same way that the pink pigments in brightening skin lotions work only better, since they are on top of your foundation and not hidden beneath.

black/brown hair ~greenish brown eyes

Face: Voile mix 1W/2N, Silk Powder, Coquille Jaune
Cheeks: Cherrybomb, Firewoman
Eyes: I am in love with the Bete Noire collection, and Tapestry ES
Lips: Notorious, Bete Noire lippies, rosebud, coquette

Ooh, thanks for the tip on the pink powders. I have one of the Divine powders in my shopping cart. Can't remember which one right now but I think it's the midtoned one.

I totally agree about the pinks. I use the pink cream concealer almost everyday and the Plum Blossom Divine every single day. I just use the divine where I want a natural highlight - right under by brow arch, the inner corners of my eyes and swept along the outside of the top of my cheek bone.

I am over 40 and I'll post photos sometime in the next few weeks. A friend of mine and I are going to get together and do before and afters photos together.

I think the most important thing for over 40 make up wearers is to use great skin care, to be well moisturized and to have a great primed canvas before applying AL.

I use an all natural skin care line I like and make sure to use moisturizer and eye cream first and let that soak in. Then I use the AL shadow base and the under eye cream cover. I have not tried the pink yet. I use neutral lite. Then I love the new silk powder primer! I just put a few grains in my hand (i just have the sample now) and use my baby kabuki. Then some metamorphis the same way before using foundation......

So that is my start anyhow..... I read A LOT on this form and have learned so much...

Current favorites: gloss infusions: bella, charm and enamor! color infusion botanical lipsticks: pout, darling, and gala are my favorites so far.... Blushes-rococco, verve & corset. It's good to hear from you AZLisa. I can't wait to see your b/a pics. Like you (and I'm sure most of us over 40 gals), my first concern is my skin care. I'm trying everything I can to reduce the appearance of my wrinkles before I go over to the dark side (aka Botox). Wink

Hey Robyn,
What's your skincare regimen? I've found that something retinoid in the evening (haven't gone to RX, yet...maybe for the 50...) and then Vit C serum in the AM under my sunscreen has really helped a lot. I'm also really adoring a moisturizer right now from Derm-E that's got hylauronic acid (sp?) -- it's nongreasy, but really keeps the skin plump and moist.

I live surrounded by 20-somethings and their skin just GLOWS with youth. I've started faking that with Illuminator across the cheekbones, in the middle of the forehead, down the nose and a dab on the chin. It's close enough....

Hi Natasha,

For the past couple of weeks, I have been using an OTC retinol cream at night (before that I was just using a basic moisturizing night cream). After reading one of Bridget's posts, I started alternating every other night with an AHA cream. I always use a moisurizer with sunscreen under my make-up and regular sunscreen on any exposed areas of my body. I have an order in for a sample of the AL Vit C serum after reading so many posts singing it's praises. I have been told that I look younger than my years. Even so, I don't like all of my fine lines (heck - they're all wrinkles to me) so I'm on a quest to improve mine. Especially the two cracks between my eyebrows and the lines under my eyes. My retinol cream says that I should see a reduction in fine lines and deep wrinkles within 12 weeks. I know cosmetic companies can say anything and get away with it because it's not regulated but 12 weeks doesn't seem like an unreasonable claim. Some companies say 2-4 weeks and that's gotta be bull$#@%. Have you found any reduction in wrinkles with your routine? How long have you been at it?

I wanted to know what type of retinol all of you are using? I use a natural skin care regimen which I like but I have been wondering if doing a peel at night with natural fruit enzymes is as effective as using a retinoid. I don't want to really go get a prescription though.

Here is the link to my over 40 photos!
