I am going to attempt to upload some pics. I am nervous because I am not pretty to begin with, and I do not have good application skills, either! I'll give this a shot though. I am just starting to get into make up and thought I'd give it a try.

Here's before:

And after:

Oh my gosh I can't believe I did that!

Anyway, I am wearing voile 2c/l, and pure cover 2. I have pink pure blush and a mix I got on here for a finishing powder. On my eyes I have Loden and Lisanthius frosts, black mascara and sassafrass on my lips.

Does anyone have suggestions for improvement - better colors for me or application tips? Thanks.

You look great!! Not pretty? You must be looking at someone else, because you definitely are. Gorgeous eyes, lovely lips, and what a smile! The "after" pic, you look so polished. The colors look really good on you, a nice subtle application.

Makeup is a learn as you go type thing. There's no right way, there's no wrong way (unless you're wearing traditional foundation and have a huge orange line across your jawline - that's wrong!). It's all about what makes you look good, what makes you feel good. Keep playing, keep experimenting, and you'll get better and better. And remember, it's all about having fun.

As far as application tips, definitely watch Momof2angels tutorials. She makes it really easy to follow along!

And keep sampling - even colors that you might not be sure of, go ahead and try. There are many colors that you might think might not be for you, but when you try them you'll fall in love with them. And there's quite a few colors that look completely different on your skin than they do in the package!

You look so polished and radiant! I don't think you need any application tips at all. There are so very experienced AL fans on this board that could give you color suggestions based on your eyes, hair color and features, but I think you did a wonderful job. You look VERY pretty!

I agree with what the others have said - you look great! You're eyes are so pretty; I think you should play them up with the Make Your Eyes Pop - Blue kit. I bet it would look fantastic and bring them out even more. :-)

Wow, the area underneath your eyes looks so great. Would you mind giving a run down on what you do for that area? I still have trouble with dark circles but then I haven't tried everything AL has to offer yet.

beautiful! your skin looks so creamy and fresh in the after picture. And you've got to-die-for lips!!
I've been into make up for years and I'm still a bit intimidated by some of the application techniques I see here - but like Cin said, it is definitely learn as you go. The colors you chose look really good on you. And, yes, sample! Because the beauty and depth of some colors can be a pleasant surprise!
Great to see you! Smile

Not pretty?! Look at your eyes, woman!!! They're incredible and such a lovely BLUE! And your skin is so clear and pretty--- with such full lips and that gorgeous haircolor! You look very fresh-faced in your before and polished in your after.

Have you tried peachy colors and browns/burgundies? I think you would like them. Samples here are so cheap you can get a ton of colors without going broke. (and there's free shipping on a sample-only order) I've always been scared of yellows, but recently tried Sophie and goldenrod and they both really make my eyes look bluer. I even ventured out of my comfort box to buy a blouse in a goldenrod color -- the first yellow item of clothing I've owned since childhood -- and it looks good!

It's all about getting comfortable and having fun!

Before I read what you wrote, I was making notes to try what you used for your After pic. Cuz you look so good!

It's truly a wonderful combo to bring out everything...even your hair looks better with the way your facial tones are highlighted.

Have fun with new colors to suit other moods, but for this mood, I wouldn't change a thing! You must be a natural makeup artist. Smile
