Can anyone describe to me how the FO blush brush differs from the FO face brush? I already have the face brush, but I see the blush brush is on sale. Would it be redundant to get that one too? The description says it's a 2-inch brush head, which is what the face brush is. If it's almost the same brush, I won't make the investment, but if there's a significant difference, I probably will.

Hi Aunt Dahlia: Actually, the FO all-over face brush has a 3" long flat-top brush head, which is better for applying loose finishing powders all over your face or body.

The FO blush brush has a 2" long chiseled brush head, which is ideal for the application of mineral blush and rouge.

HTH!

Gosh...now I'm really confused. I just measured my face brush (which says "Silk/Fiber Allover 36 USA" on it; are we talking about the same thing?). The brush head is definitely 2 inches long, not 3 inches. But the head is a flat-top, not chiselled.

Did I accidentally get some kind of hybrid instead of the face brush? And would the density of hair on the brush I have and the blush brush be the same? (The allover face brush I have is sort of sparse and fluffy, certainly as compared to my AL kabuki, which is very dense.) If the blush brush is also a 2-inch head and also non-dense and fluffy, there's probably no point...

Here's a side by side, which I hope will be helpful. Pardon the fact that I didn't wash my brushes for the pic, I wanted you to see how they looked all fluffed out after use. (Normally I wash these every other day but was running late today & didn't get to, which worked out!)

Bottom is the All Over Face Brush, it says "allover 36" on it.

In the middle is the Blush Brush, it says "small face 18" on it.

The top is the older version of the blush brush, with short silver handle. I've found I prefer the new one, with longer handle. But I threw this in for those of you that have the old one!!

Personally, I can't live without both! Hope this pic helps.

Huh. So the blush brush COULD apply finishing powders, but the allover brush is probably too big to apply blush, yes? Sounds like having both or just the blush brush is more useful than having just the allover brush.

Duly noted, thanks for the pic Cin!

The larger all over brush is perfect for finishing powders, but yeah, I'd say too big for blush. The blush brush could do both, but you'd have to make sure you get all the blush off it before applying any finishing powder! So really, it's better to have both!!

Glad the pic was helpful.

I have both brushes.
Yes, all over brush would be too big for blush.
You would have blush...all over....

I LOVE all the sizes of the FO brushes. I use the big one for my silk powder and the blush brush for the Nectarine coquille that I am so addicted to...

And the tiny FO brush is perfect for layering just the right amount of dark shadow...

SO soft, too...like petting a chinchilla...

Cin, thanks so much for the picture. The brush I have is definitely the bottom one. I think I'll go ahead and get the blush brush too since I don't want to use the same brush for blush that I use for finishing powder. (I'm using a fan brush for coquille.) Thanks again!

By the way, what do you all use to wash your brushes? Just baby shampoo or something else?

Baby shampoo,or anything else with without harsh detergents would work - I find my Clinique facial bar, which is specifically for sensitive skin, is very gentle on my brushes but still gets them clean. Generally, if you treat them like you would your own hair you'll be fine!

And I am DEFINITELY getting all the FO brushes, just *slowly* so my husband doesn't get too up in arms. Things are tight around here with home improvements, medical junk with the pregnancy and nursery additions (we STILL don't have DD's completely done and she's over a year old TeeHeeHee )

I am still stunned Kristen can get such NICE brushes and offer then so cheaply - her profit margin must be quite slender because I know how much the 'at cost' of those types of brushes actually is. And she offers sales on the, to boot?! She takes such good care of us, her little flock of loyal addicts! But amazing products and amazing service will cultivate quite a following!

I use soap normally every other day (kabukis I wash once a week, since they take a while to dry). I don't use shampoo because our water is very soft & it takes forever to get the suds out!

For eyeshadow brushes, I wash them after each use with soap - everyday probably isn't necessary, but I want to make sure I don't end up with yesterday's shadow color mixed in with today's! To disinfect I'll use rubbing alcohol, followed by a nice soap bath.

Just make sure to give your brushes a good "towel dry" and allow them to sit in a well ventilated area to thoroughly dry.

I use baby shampoo on my brushes. I've heard that you can use baby shampoo, a mild facial cleanser, or a special brush cleaner.

Also make sure you always angle the brushes downwards to dry! Otherwise water can pool up in the area where the bristles are glued to the brush and dissolve the glue! I always lay a hand towel on the counter, roll up the edge to make a little "shelf", and put my brushes on the towel with the end of the handle up on the rolled part. If I remember, I flip the hard-to-dry brushes (kabukis, large powder brushes) once or twice a day so the bristles don't end up crooked, but normally my brushes dry just fine like this.

I like to use this homemade brush cleanser for everyday (or every other day) cleaning. You can make it with stuff you probably have on hand in your house already, so it's convenient and inexpensive. It makes a pretty big batch, so it lasts a good long time.

The youtube cleaner is amazing. I love it and have been using it since it was posted a couple months back. I love my FO blush brush, but it does get stained as you can see in Cin's pix, so I do not want to use it with the new resolution finishing powder I just ordered. But I love the brush size so much I plan to order another for finishing powders Smile Point being, yes you should have a separate brush for blush and the FO one is perfect.
