So, I mentioned this on another thread but it really belongs here - I just got my thin liner with my latest order and I've been using it with my Blackout gel liner (LOOOVE, I'm in love!) and I must say I have a steady hand but am having control problems.

More specifically, after washing and reshaping my brush it does NOT keep its point - a few hairs stray and the point is a little blunt - when I try to apply my liner this makes a fuzzy and somewhat imprecise line, which is a problem. Is it my brush, the way I am treating it (is there a solution I can use to get it more stiff, perhaps?) or just the nature of the brush in general - not user error or defective?

Perhaps the push brush would be better for getting me a nice, thin line with no strays, I am not yet sure (I've only used that one for wetlining the minerals, and it's EASY to fix those compared to the indelible liner!). Any opinions would be appreciated Smile

I'm not sure what the problem might be.

I glide my brush along the top of the liner. Mine stays in a nice pointed thin line with hairs aligned.
If they aren't aligned, I guess I kind of roll it along the top of the balm to get it into shape.
The push brush is definitely much tighter and firmer. The thin liner is not like that. I sort of pull it along the top in a circular motion maybe. I've washed it with gentle cleanser. Used water and soap, and used brush cleaner. All have worked fine for cleaning it. I also sweep it over a paper towel when wet to dry it quicker.
I don't know if any of that helped at all.
For application I sort of slide it along the lash line, a section at a time.
Keep practicing. I'm sure others will add some ideas and solutions.

Hmm, perhaps I am using it too dry and need to get more liner on there? I do tend to get a bit of an inconsistent application on a straight line, because I don't really load it up. Maybe that would help keep them all in order and not stray?

After you wash it, do you reshape it before you let it dry?

I do load up my brush with liner really good and roll it on its side into a point in the jar of liner also. Seems to work like a charm.

I roll mine too as I glide it on its side across the top of the gel or other wet liner and moderately load the brush. I wash mine daily immediately after use and do my best to shape it to dry. Always wash the brush going the direction of the hairs not against them.
You may have better luck with the flat liner, I know some ladies prefer them over the thin liner. With the flat liner you can really get to the base of the lashes, especially when working with liner powders like Pure Dramas.

Well I definitely wash it in the direction the bristles go and I ALWAYS reshape after they dry (the artist in me who refuses to ruin good tools Smile) but I think I will try rolling it when I load up instead of swirling or brushing in lines across the liner surface. And I am really thinking I just didn't get enough on there, now. When I take off my makeup tonight I'll experiment and see if that fixes it.

Well I think I solved the problem. Tonight I tried loading the brush more and I cleaned it with Jojoba oil first, then a smidge of facial cleanser. No stray hairs and I think the oil helped it not act so...frizzy. I will give a push brush a shot because for my wetlining I LOVE it and it may suit the gel liner better, too. We'll see what happens!

The jojoba oil may help with the "frizziness", but it also coats the hairs and makes it harder to pick up makeup like the gel liners. They just don't stick as well to the hairs.

Oooh, good point. I haven't noticed a problem (because I wash the jojoba off with facial soap) but I'll keep that in mind.
