I hope you ladies saw that the YAD matte eyeshadows are on sale for 50% off at the bottom of the daily sales. That is a total steal!!

IMO the reason they didn't sell well when they first came out is that they were ahead of their time. Shortly after they came out, other lines like Urban Decay released their bright matte collections...now the Shu Uemura spring e/s are out, and the green and yellow shades (from photos) look just like Petticoat and Vintage to my eyes. I bought backups of Petticoat and Pearl, which I already have and love, and 2 Vintage because the fresh green shades are so in right now. As usual, AL is on the cutting edge. I can tell I will be wearing these all spring. Not to mention Pearl makes a gorgeous blush.

Coloring: 1W Glissade (can get by with N or Y) Hazel eyes, hair back to dark red. Looks best in neutral or slightly cool-toned makeup.
Favorite products: Magnetism gel liner, Rocks! Rouges, Pinafore Color Cream, Adelaide EDT. Have yet to try an eyeshadow I didn't love.

WOW! I just checked the Shu Uemura website. The green and the yellow really are super close to Vintage and Petticoat.

Yup, I just bought an extra Pearl shadow because it's just the perfect pink blush without shimmer for me.

It's amazing sometimes to me when Kristen introduces something new and soon after the big name companies come out with something very, very similar.

I had 1 pearl left in stock, strangely four ladies ordered it last night! So the last pearl went to the first order in line. I wasn't awake to remove pearl from the site, obviously- so orders were placed for pearl.

I've refunded those of you who ordered it late last night.

I've been trying to get rid of these colors for ages... what do you want to bet that they are just smash sellers for she uemera when it's taken me over a year to sell 50 per color of these buggers? My biggest flop ever...

I'm sorry! I call it the curse of the mattes!

Brown/Black Hair • Greenish eyes • 1YL or 00 Glissade normal skin/dry in winter • Neutral coloring- I can wear pretty much anything but I love pinks/reds/mauves on my eyes • Clarisonic/Vitamin C/Baby Quasar/Retin A junkie • Love Rocks! and Elemental Lustres shadows • I always wear lots of black with a bright color and match my eyeshadow to my clothing... love breaking the rules • 37 y/o

Does that mean Loida didn't get hers? Wink

I wasn't too fond of it on my eyes, but love it as a blush! That's all I use it for. Though it does make a nice lip color with clear gloss!

Oh no! We all want it now that it's gone...Any chance you could package and re-release it as a blush? Maybe not since although we love matte blushes here on the forum, mattes just don't sell well. Go figure.

I think the Shu shades are matte or at least semi-matte. Not outright shimmers/frosts. That will be so funny if they are hits. You know you're on the cutting edge when Shu and UD start doing what you did first.

Now I'm curious... did I get it or not? Oh well, if not, I'll just have to make what I have last.

I have to say that I love Pearl and wear it often; it makes a very nice blush AND lip colour as well as for the eyes. I meant to get another, but too late for me this afternoon.

I really loved all the YAD collection mattes (I bought them all in the summer) and my Mom does too. I should get the remaining colours for her birthday (on the 28th)! Smile *framboise would be good too... I'll trot off to the shopping cart now* Big Grin

Abby- I am a SAHM, 32 years old, married and have a 3 year old daughter. I wear Level 1 (W, Y, N, combo) with some Alabaster; I like both Glissade and Voile! I just love Aromaleigh and have not been disappointed in anything Smile I have fibromyalgia and don't feel well most of the time. AL helps me look better and feel good about myself! Smile

Oh no! I ordered two. I hope I got that one. So sad if I didn't. That's too bad they weren't more popular, they sure are pretty.

Well, crap! Pearl and Vintage is my favorite eye combo ever! For some reason I like them together better than either of them mixed with anything else. I agree that they were ahead of their time - I remember when the Rocks! line first came out and about 2 weeks later on the Oscars everybody was wearing bright colors on their eyes! I'd bet my paycheck we'll see soft pink and green matte eyeshadows all over the place this spring and summer. Boo Hoo, I'm very sad that Pearl is gone and pretty annoyed with myself that I didn't check the sales on Sunday!

I've never understood why mattes don't sell, they are divine. The matte collection is one that I want a f/s of every single color.

Mattes are so flexible, you can use them for soft washes, high impact, or layering. I adore AL mattes because they are silky and super blendy!

I absolutely, totally agree! The mattes on their own can be so pretty and soft, or dark and dramatic. I do a lot of one color matte very lightly on my lid and another layer in the crease and a wetline - great look. When I use a anything frosty or shimmery I still like a matte in the crease. If I had to pick just one line of shadows it would be the Mattes!

Thank you, thank you, thank you for singing the praises of matte eyeshadow. I love matte eyeshadow. Once I found AL, I got caught up in the all the glitz and glamour of all the wonderful shimmery shadows and forgot all about the matte ones. I think I need to go order some right now. Smile

Carolina mattes are very popular... and I always forget- even seeing them everyday- that Rocks have mattes. Those babies are zingers when they're layered, but can be sweetly watercolor-like in a single layer.

I, too, love the mattes!! I wear soft neutral shades in my crease every day. And I often wear a full matte eye -- I LOVE Willow as a liner.

I;ll have to try some of the Rocks mattes -- I'm still introducing color into my eye palette. There are some really pretty colors in that collection, but most of what I've tried have been the sparkly ones (I adore psychocandy as a blush).

i adore my matte rocks! esp tempted, obsession, spellbound, newrose, suspectdevice, & swampthing.

hennagirl ~ the easiest way to start wearing super bright colors is to wear neutrals with them and use one only as a crease shadow or as a liner to start out with. if you like willow (i love that color too) try swampthing. with your greenish/blue eyes i'd think some other shades like vampira or dirty deeds would look awesome... along with some paler pinks and corals. suspectdevice is a great matte that would make your eyes pop! and if you can wear psycho-candy as a blush then i'd try it on my eyes too! just a suggestion. i'm not sure what colors you've tried already. Smile i never thought i'd ever wear blue but now i own heaven, swank, and a few others i can't think of off the top of my head. it's always fun to try new things... and you don't loose anything if it doesn't work.
