Hello!

I just got my order of YAD collection yesterday and used Metamorphosis today as a finishing powder. How is everyone using this? It is so shimmery!! I'm not sure I like the way it looks as a finishing powder as I can see glitter particles on my face, would it be better as a highlighter maybe? It would make a good eye highlighter, I think.

Thanks!

Hey, Lori - I've been using Metamorphosis as a finishing powder over my whole face and don't feel it to be much more shimmery than the Illuminator, and less glowy than the Luminesce Divine. I use a kabuki brush and place my first stroke high on my cheekbone and around my temple, then start whiskin over my entire face.

I think Emerald used it as a highlighter as well as on top of the Vintage shade to make it mermaidy!

I really do think this is a very versatile product - hope you end up loving it as much as I do!

My coloring - Fair, naturally curly dark red hair, freckles (light golden), combo to oily skin, use 1W Glissade and/or Voile, although I can and have worn 1Y, 1Y/L, and 1Y/L/00 at different times. Would describe my coloring as neutral - not a classic Autumn, not really a Winter, maybe more of a Late Fall?

I wore metamorphosis alone in a very light layer, and it was not glittery on me. I also wore it under my foundation and achieved porcelain-looking skin without glitter or shimmer. I see more shimmer with the blushes.

The only time I see glitter with the Metamorphosis powder is in a 10x mirror with a clip on style desk light (reveal blub for makeup purposes).. otherwise I see no glitter and it looks so smooth, soft, like baby skin.

62 yr old, light complected, rosacea -sensitive skin, fading auburn hair, hazel eyed, lightly freckled,
MMU= 2 Y/L + a tad of 2 Pink Glissade.
Topped with an Illuminator/juane,verte,blue coquille powders, and Splendor and Allure Perle powders mix for finishing powder.Leaves a soft ,velvety finish, natural look - not a dry skin/ aged looked

Thanks ladies! I will have to experiment more with it. Maybe I'll like it better under my foundation. I do feel it is more shimmery than illuminator and definitely more shimmery than the angel luminesce devine powder. Luminesce is more of a pearly or shiny finish than sparkly IMO.

Anyway, I swatched all my AL finishing powders on my arm to see the difference and Metamorphosis is the one with the most shimmer, followed illuminator, then my version of Jane's mix, and last is angel luminesce.

Here is a clickable thumbnail of a pic I took, not the greatest pic even though I put the powders on pretty thick, but it might give newbies an idea of how all the AL finishing powders compare. --Lori

Wow - I never would have guessed it to be that shimmery! Maybe when I put it on the bigger shimmer particles fall off, sort of the way Verita works on me - no shimmer or glitter at all on my skin!

Maybe play around with the brush you use to apply - I bet you'll get a different effect using a kabuki vs. a fluffy powder brush vs. the fiber optic face brush. I usually use the kabuki, since that's what I carry in my purse (actually, it's the Ultimate Buffer, which is pretty much kabuki shaped with a short handle...)

Great pics, though! And super helpful!

It's funny how different we all are. The Lum Divine powder is beautiful, but for me I do best with it underneath my foundation. It's just too shiny on top of it for me. Now the Metamorphosis is not as shiny/shimmery at all on me like the Lum Divine was. It's more of a 'glow from within' type of look.

Also, another consideration is application. I've always used my fiber optic brush when applying either of these powders. Otherwise, I might put on too much. I've got a slightly heavy hand when applying my makeup so I have to watch out.

Lori,
Thanks for the picture, I can see what you mean. It is nice to have that comparison.
Right now my main finishing powder is the Angel divine. I use the Ultra Luxe FO brush. I dip, swirl and tap then start with application around the cheekbone/temple areas then I go all over my face to blend and smooth. I only dip my brush once.

I love the fiber optic too for finishing powder, especially with divine and metamorphosis. Metamorphosis is starting to grow on me, I just have to be careful to use it more lightly than others. I have a few fiber optic brushes, so I whisk on some metamorphosis and then use a clean fiber optic to very lightly go back over and that helps.

Also, I think it depends on skin type too, maybe. I am very dry. I can see how an oiler type gal might not like the luminesce as much since it does have a glow factor.

I just saw that there is a new finishing powder out, Divine Radiance!! Gonna have to order me samples of that one, too. Not sure how it would be on a warm toned gal since it is more pink, but I'll have to try it out and then take a pic with all 5 of the finishing powders, LOL!!

I agree with those who said it is not any more shimmery than illuminator. I do not think it is as much as the luminesce poweders. I personally use A LOT of metamorphasis, but I like that look. You could use less, or maybe mix it with your foundation to cut the shimmer.

Thanks for the swatch pic, it's great for reference!

I use metamorphosis as an all-over finishing powder. The first time I applied it, I used too much product, and it looked cakey & made my large pores look very prominent. Now I just tap a very few "grains" into this little antique bowl I use for mixing & swirl my flawless face-type brush into it & buff all over my face, starting w/the cheeks. This is one of my "can't-do-without" products. Someone said it's like airbrushing in a jar, and it really is-- gives a porcelain, soft-focus finish & hides little imperfections. The key to using it (for me anyway) is a light hand. My motto is you can always add another coat. Smile

I'm glad to see this thread, because when I tried Metamorphosis with the fiber optic all-over face brush I saw noticeable sparkle in both sunlight and fluorescent light, but it was a nice soft finish under incandescents. I think the problem was just too much product. I'll have to try a lighter hand or putting it under my foundation and see what works. Smile

I use it as an all over finishing powder with a bit more under my eyes/top of cheekbones. I love this stuff! I don't think it has a lot of shimmer, but I find that since I use more foundation than normal (because of rosacea) that I need something to put some glow back in my face after all that mattifying foundation.

I use the Luminesce Divine and Divine Radiance sparingly if used over my foundation, or if I use it under, I treat it a little thicker like a concealer (weird, I know, but it works for me Smile ).
