Hey, girlies - long time no chat . I do check th forums almost daily, mostly to see everyone's beautiful faces. Not much time to post right now. Store stuff is going great - lots of cool stuff heading in, so it will be fine. But man, is this time full of stuff to do. A little bit stressful, but not anxiety provoking. Fun and exciting stress, I suppose.

No pics, sadly. But it's been so long since I've done eyes that I really wanted to share the news with you all.

I've got on dark grey cords, a light slate blue long sleeve shirt and a muted teal cardi over that. Basically, I'm dressed like a little storm cloud, which means that when I go outside you can't even see me - great camoflauge for today's weather. Anyway, I've got all the cool blue grey studd going on, and though I wanted a contrast with eyes. I used Strawberry Despair over the entire lid and softly over the brow bone, then accented outer third and crease with Elegant Reverie. SO pretty. Strawberry Despair really livened up my face and brought sparkle and contrast to my eyes. I used a cream blush that's been bopping around my purse forever, sort of a nude bronzey shade (about the way Eptiome looks on my skin) and Nuance lipstick.

Looks great, even on my warm skin - and even to me "afeared of pink" self!

-b.

My coloring - Fair, naturally curly dark red hair, freckles (light golden), combo to oily skin, use 1W Glissade and/or Voile, although I can and have worn 1Y, 1Y/L, and 1Y/L/00 at different times. Would describe my coloring as neutral - not a classic Autumn, not really a Winter, maybe more of a Late Fall?

Glad to hear things are going well, Bridget. I haven't played much with my Strawberry Despair, just wore it once so far. Gotta get that sample out and experiement!

Melissa, I'm with you. Today was impossible.....we stayed inside til 6pm, then went to the rodeo in Skillman. We were gonna go tomorrow, but 97 degrees with such terrible humidity at 2pm just didn't seem sane. Wasn't too bad, but I'll be happy when summer's over.

We're still waiting for Spring up here! New snow on the mountains, it's raining out and about 40 out right now.

A few years ago we had an entire summer of rain - it finally stopped late August, and then is frosted in early september. no tomatoes at all that year. It's still too soon to sow seed in the ground yet. Another tough growing year, I think.

Yeah - long sleeves and a cardi and cords and I was still cold. Go figure.

As much as I hate the cold weather - about as much as I hate the hot weather - I was wishing for it today!

Even though it isn't summer yet, I am wishing it was over already too, Cin Smile

That's funny the first and only time I experienced 100 degree weather was when my sister and I drove out east years ago. We went to NJ and camped near Atlantic City, we were so surprised that it was 100 in June. Believe it or not FL doesn't get 100 degree weather. Sarasota has never reached 100. We had some record highs last summer that were like 96 degrees.

B. can't wait to see the pictures of your new venture and of you stepping out of the box!!
Nice to hear from you even if it's little pops here and there.

I'm still trying to find my perfect pink.

That's very surprising actually. I wouldn't have guessed that Florida doesn't get to be 100˚. Huh...Smile

What makes it worse here too is that the humidity is somewhere around 500%! Smile You just step foot out the door and you look like you just stepped out of the shower TeeHeeHee

Oh we get the "feels like" temp of 100˚ with the humidity. In the summer it usually rains in the afternoon and that helps cool things a tad and with the Gulf breeze, we live close enough. Inland it's usually warmer but I still don't recall them reaching 100˚. We are still so dry for June, I have to water my flowers and herbs everyday before 10 am or after 4 pm.

Anyway you still look good in the heat! Maybe you can send some to Bridget, since I kinda highjacked her thread.

I got my sample of Strawberry Dispair a few days ago and have worn it every day since then. I really did not like the color pink for most of my life. Then a few years ago I was shopping and found this great shirt that had subtle yellow and pink flower pattern with some purple sparkles and a rosy pink velvet ribbon trim on the neckline. Every since then I've been hooked on pink. I think pink has some pretty negative connotations attached to it due to things like Barbie and Mary Kay makeup. Not that there's anything wrong with either of those, but they have the "vapid housewife" stereotype attached to them. It's a really versitile color, though. It has the ability to be both warm or cool, fun or sophisticated, and trendy or traditional.

I'm just a weirdo. My mom always chose various pinks for me and even as a little girl I never felt comfortable or pretty in them. Most pink clothing makes me itch, unless it's like a hot pink bordering on fuschia - I'll wear that color in underwear, but it so doesn't look good on me as a shirt color. I truly am a pinkophobe, although Miss K is always creating great pink shades that I love to wear!

Sounds pretty! I have a sample of Strawberry Despair and thought it was a gorgeous warm-ish pink color that would work for me when I swiped it on my hand. But I haven't worn it on my eyes yet, I've been worried that it might be a bit too bright compared to what I normally wear to work. I'll have to make a point of trying this sample soon Smile

I'm only a borderline pinkophobe .... I've known for a long time that pastel pink looks horrible on me and washes me out. But I do like salmon pinks / peachy-pinks. And even a dark berry pink shirt looks fairly good on me! Fushia isn't the best, but does look better than pastel pink on me!

Yes, I am a pink=o-phobe. The last time I tried it, I looked like I had a bad case of conjunctivitis....

Peach is wonderful; any shade just about... but pink...um, no. Not yet.

Does Bouganvillia count as pink? I think it's more purply... anyway, that works on me.

But since you were so brave, I might have to try Strawberry Despair. Just not right before I have to go anywhere.... just in case...

Hennagirl -- you might also consider a sample of Angelique, it's a wonderful muted pink that looks good on almost everyone and is one of the few pink eyeshadows I really like! Angel Wing is also great for adding just a hint of pink as a highlighter. Even Edie looks surprisingly good on me, even though I've definitely tried a lot of other pink eyeshadows that made me looks like I've been crying or had pink eye Wink

That's the fun of AL's huge color selection ... even pinkophobes can find a pink that works for them Smile

Must put those pinks on the sample list.... I don't want to be a pinkophobe.... just have to find the right one.

OMG we've had temps around 103- 106 in the DC area and surrounding areas- major heatwave here! people are dropping like flies while waiting for the bus, etc. yuck! i want bridget's weather!

i was surprised to find a pink that looks good on me, too. i really like magic wand PH over carbon on lower portion of lid and then extended to browbone. magic wand has that eye-brightening effect on me. i can't wear most pinks, tho.

I thought Magic Wand was purple Confused Is it more like a pinkish-purple? Or maybe Carbon changed the color slightly...
