All of these butterfly hunts have me in a playful mood!

This week's challenge is inspired by those hunts and by one of my favorite designers: Elsa Schiaparelli. Regarded as one of the most prominent figures in fashion between the two World Wars, her work was heavy influenced by Surrealist art. She collaborated with artists Salvador Dali and Jean Cocteau, among others. She is well known for her use of shocking pink and for bringing playfulness to fashion.

Elsa Schiaparelli's 1937 organdy butterfly patterned waltz-length evening dress was refreshingly playful:

Here's a butterfly jacket she designed:

And "shocking pink" booties:

My challenge to you this week is to be playful. Let the butterflies soar! Peruse Miss K's butterfly images for a new color combo. Or perhaps, ignite your look with some Schiaparelli pink. Feel free to frolic!

Here's my nod to Elsa Schiaparelli...

I used Heartofglass Rocks! on my eyes and on my lips mixed with Summer of Love gloss. I lined with Ebony PEM. Sunny D. Plush is the highlight. Corset is the blush of the day.

Thanks for indulging my goofing around!

-Melissa

I was kind of sad that the pink turned orange... but really, what did I expect? Red and yellow make orange... so pink and yellow will make a lighter orange.

BUT I liked it anyway. It was fun. I might do it again.

Nix, I like the pink and yellow on you. I know it blends to orange in the middle but the edges are still pink looking to me. And it's so pretty! If you want it pinker though... just put the Italian Ice over part of the lid only.

Z used those colors separately to make the "warrior woman" look:

Thanks so much! Smile

I like your look too, even though it is a bit "goofy" Smile. Those colors really brighten your face up, and it makes a great icon pic since you can't tell what is holding the bf's together there. Oh, and it really does look like a conglomeration of Elsa Schiaparelli's dress and shoes that you posted.
