what a fortunate coincidence! JJ, I've been skimming the boards all day waiting for your challenge (I'm having a lot of fun w/these, now that I've started participating Smile ), and wouldn't ya know it, the colours I happened to choose for today go right along w/your theme! I didn't choose the same shades of yellow and green that Miss K has posted on her blog, courtesy of Pantone, for Spring, but I'll let y'all decide if this counts anyway Wink

sorry I went overboard w/the pix, but I was just SO happy w/how bright and fresh and Spring-y this turned out Big Grin I was inspired by girl_geek's recent FOTDs (must give credit where it's due Smile ), the one w/the Oceanic bright-lining and the metallic eye she just did w/tangled tinsel + sea of love... the colours I used today are sunny disposition EP, mandarin OL, bamboo OL, fig OL; I wetlined w/ a brilliant verdant green that I frank'd (mostly from a couple of Rocks! greens, if I remember correctly)... thx for looking! Smile

thx JJ! I didn't have any bold yellows in this combo, and that BRIGHT eye liner is nowhere near the subtly lush, warm green of "dark citron" LOL maybe the "anything goes as long as it's yellow and green" bit will help others feel like they can participate in this challenge, too (HINT HINT, ladies! Big Grin ) heck, I might try this challenge again later this week myself... come on, Spring!! Happy Dance

Ah, it's been awhile since I've done a challenge look. Partly because my camera has been MIA and I just haven't had the time for much makeup lately. But alas... here we go. Smile

Face:
2L/2YL Glissade
Dolly on cheeks
Angel all over to soften cheeks
And for the last few days I've been filling in my brows!! =O Today I decided to use Willow Matte!

Eyes:
Nude Frost all over lid
Dandelion all over that
Emerald in crease and lightly on lower lash line (this didn't turn out as green as I would have liked... maybe next time I'll try Arbor)
Brown liner on top and barely on bottom

22 y/o hard-working mommy of Micaiah.
Face: 1Y Glissade/Light-Med Porcelaine & Clear URFP
Cheeks: Gothic Lolita Dolly <3, Lux/Allure/Whisper Perle Powder & Twilight Lustre
Lips: Sweet, Allure & Pout
Eye Favs: Fox, Sapphire, Coco Bean, Phlox, Alyssum, Bellflower, Alexandrite, Smokescreen, Ebony, Umber, Amarante, Cypress, Wild Coco... the list goes on!!

thx ladies! Love I haven't brightlined in a really long time - I'd forgotten what a fun look that can be!

btw Cristin, I saw that shirt at Costco a month or so ago and fell in love - I'm excited it's finally getting warm enough that I can wear it w/o having to layer and cover up all of the pretty colours! Big Grin Wink

FH, I love Love LOVE this combo on you!! I know you weren't keen on how the green turned out, but I think it's SO pretty, very lush w/o being "obvious" Smile and your lining is beautiful, really enhances your pretty blue peepers Wink

Thanks ladies!

Tanya, I <3 your bright lining!! I tried it once on myself... can't remember what color I used now, but in the end I didn't really like it too much.

I love both of your interpretations of this challenge. I don't think I've ever paired yellow and green before. I'll have to get creative and see what I come up with.

Oooo. I'm wearing Nico today! Just straight up but when I get home I'll try to remember to add some green somewhere and snap some pics. Smile

I tried a yellow/green (bigneonglitter & greenhell) eye today and it looked hideous on me so I wiped it off and did a neutral eye for the day. I think I could pull off sunny disposition w/ basil but nothing bright or exciting. I'll try again tomorrow.

Hey you - try something softer for the yellow, like Daphne or Sunny Disposition, or similar, and then add a mossier green like Moss (of course) or Brianna, or any of the slighly muted mossy/foresty greens.

I think you could do a bright yellow if you paired it with a more muted complementary shade like Longing or Chocolate Heart or another rosey/plummy/mauvey/earthy brown.

And you could do greenhell as a bright accent with a more muted earth crease like Tarnish or Willow or again a muted plum/violet.

I think the intensity of bigneonglitter + greenhell was just at odds with your own coloring, since you are lower contrast and muted.

I'd love to see what you come up with!

-b.

My coloring - Fair, naturally curly dark red hair, freckles (light golden), combo to oily skin, use 1W Glissade and/or Voile, although I can and have worn 1Y, 1Y/L, and 1Y/L/00 at different times. Would describe my coloring as neutral - not a classic Autumn, not really a Winter, maybe more of a Late Fall?

Bridget was right, bright greens/yellows compete with my coloring and do not compliment it. I paired a richer, muted green with a soft buttery yellow and I think it turned out really nice. I think I'm starting to love green on me as long as it's the *right* green.

frosty brown e/s crayon - lid/crease
wintergreen Holiday 2008 - lid
sabine Bete Noire - crease/v
be mine Valentine 2009 - brow bone (it doesn't show up a lot in these photos, but it's yellow and it's there -- so it counts)
evergreen gel liner - smudged under lower lashes
black mascara

2y/2yl voile blend - all over
Translucent Ultra Resolution Finishing Powder - t-zone
dolly gothic lolita rouge - cheeks
melancholia gothic lolita nourishing color creme - lips
