I do miss the music of the 80's for sure! I've been into country music for about 10 years now, because I didn't like any of the new music that was out back then. I remember the days of the black kohl eyeliner you had to heat up with a match to rim your inner eye. We even used a pair of pliers to pull up the zipper on our Jordach or Calvin Klein jeans!!! And whenever Dallas or The Colbys were on TV, it was "family" night!! Don't even get me started on the big-hair! (My sister's hair was HUGE!) I was born in 1968 and the 80's were quite the time to be a teenage.....

40 years young. Yikes! Medium ash blonde hair (from a bottleSmile, brown eyes, neutral coloring - silk powder, Glissade 2N (fall/winter), Fav lipsticks: Cedar, Honey, Nougat, Brandy & Victoriana. Fav Rouges: Verve, Quintessential & Epitome. The flocked sponge is awesome! (Still trying to get daring with the eye shadows.)

I use to wear an armful of those black rubber bracelets and silver and gold bangles.
And those pins with our favorite groups on them... I knew a girl that wore a shirtful of Michael Jackson pins like a shield of armor, everyday. It must have taken her an hour to put those on each morning. I SWEAR it wasn't me though! I wore Duran Duran Pins and no more than 5 at a time. BTW, Does anyone want to talk about John Taylor? Love

John Taylor = yummy, but Simon Le Bon = Delicious... I think I was 'in love' with him through the whole 80's.

Simon Le Bon was my 2nd choice! I loved it especially when he got really really tan and thin and bleached his hair blonde.
Was your walls just plastered with posters?

You didn't even see the paint! Almost every square inch was Duran Duran. I did dedicate one wall to posting up the covers every month of my fashion mags...Vogue, Bazaar, etc...

Uh oh, I'm having flashbacks. One of my best friends in high school was one of those psychotic fans that was obsessed with Duran Duran, and YES, John Taylor. Her entire bedroom was literally floor to ceiling in Duran Duran posters, magazine articles, the works. When a video would come on MTV (and that was once every 20 minutes) she would scream, and stare at the TV. God forbid should you breathe too loud while it was on, she'd have a coniption!

Every now & then I run into someone I went to high school with and they comment on "oh, remember how you used to love Duran Duran" and I have to say, no, that was Karen, with blonde hair & ever present Duran Duran t shirt. I was the one with black hair, head to toe black clothes, and usually a Cure t shirt. How they mixed us up is beyond me!

Thanks for the link Kristen! I was always buying some magazine, I also liked BOP.

Cindy, you can call me Karen, LOL! I spent many hours screaming in front of the TV!

They had some of the best videos...

Oh no!! Not another one!!

And to think, I used to have to wait til midnight when "120 Minutes" came on to see one or two videos that I liked! Although that could have been the early 90's, I can't really remember.

I wasn;t allowed to watch MTV when it first came out. I used to sneak it when my parents went for their nightly walk. One night they came home early. I was in the kitchen cleaning up after dinner, listening from the other room, waiting for a Duran Duran video to come on...

I heard the front door open and I ran so fast into the rec room to turn the TV off that I caught my big toe on the door frame and broke my toe!!!

This was when it was a sure thing that they would play a Duran Duran video at least every other hour and announce it at the top of the hour... probably about 1981/1982...

Which was your favorite video/s?
Mine was Hungry Like the Wolf and Save a Prayer. Rio was really good too, I once painted my face like the model on that video. I also love "The Reflex" video. That was the one song that drove my dad UP THE WALL, I played that song sooooooooo many times!! My Own Way was also good with it's red, white and black theme and the flamenco dancers. Oh I miss those days! *sigh*

That's WAY too hard of a question, Melissa! I loved ALL the videos, especially Planet Earth. Save a Prayer was so ethereal, made me want to travel. They were the pioneers in music video IMO.

In a way I wish it was the 80's still, being younger is always a plus...

I forgot all about that! They would announce three videos - whoever they announced first was played within 2 videos, second was around the half hour mark, and the third would be almost at the end of the hour. So if they said a band you wanted to see, you pretty much knew you could go do whatever and come back within a certain time frame and still see it.

ok, my favorite song from that album was The Chauffeur. In HS I used it as a basis for a bit of evocative creative writing in English class.

"And the sun beats down setting heavy behind,
The front of your dress all shadowy lined
And the droning engine throbs in time
With your beating heart."

(From memory - it might not check out on the lyrics sites!)

(got an A, along with the comment that my work was well written but the storyline a bit vague. Obviously Mr. Thompson had never heard the song!!)

-b.

My coloring - Fair, naturally curly dark red hair, freckles (light golden), combo to oily skin, use 1W Glissade and/or Voile, although I can and have worn 1Y, 1Y/L, and 1Y/L/00 at different times. Would describe my coloring as neutral - not a classic Autumn, not really a Winter, maybe more of a Late Fall?

Did we ever determine this?? I thought they were all songs (except Agent Orange was a band, I couldn't recall any song by that name).
