Hi everyone,

It's an honor and pleasure to choose this week's colors, which are:

1.SWANK(Elemental Lustre) - "A mysterious lustrous pool of navy blue complexity with shimmers of deep pewter, cobalt and burgundy..." or any dark navy blue shade.

and

2. SATIN LACES(Gothic Lolita) - "Satiny smooth golden copper patina with the slightest smoke undertone and a kiss of subtle rose tones"... or any golden shade.

- Lili Smile

What....does this mean you aren't partaking, Cin? Is it the yellow that scares you? Wink

I knew I had Swank from the Naughty kit, but I had to search for a gold....I have Astonish from the Nice kit. I've never worn either - the little sticky seals are still attached to both! And yes, I am a bit scared of gold. But it is slightly less terrifying than yellow. Wink

Well, Astonish is a good gold to start with since it's also silvery at the same time Wink Swank is also a surprisingly subtle blue, another good choice for anyone that hasn't tried blue before!

I don't have any of these colors but I did some equivalent colors this morning and snapped some pics that I'll post this evening.

* Maiden below brow and down to crease as a base
* Plush Romantic all over eye lid
* Suede Pure Hue in crease
* Wet lined top eye lash line with Le Mystere #51 (will check that when I get home)

I really wanted to do heavier eye lining and some mascara with this but ran out of time this morning so just curled my lashes and went with it. I usually bring the darker colors out to the Vee so they're a bit more drammatic but I didn't this time because I'm afraid of blue eyeshadow and this was my first time applying it. I think I'm getting the hang of blending a little more now. It looked pretty scary when I first put it on but then I took a largish e/s brush and went over the area where the Suede and Plush Romantic met and it helped.

I don't normally "do" blue eyeshadow, so I was concerned how I was going to pull this color combination off. Well, I love it! Now I think there's no color I won't give a chance.

Here's what I did:

Sapphire/Infidel (substituted for Swank) mixed together and applied to lid and outer corner
Satin Laces dry in crease
Moon on brow bone and inner 1/3 of lid to blend
Scuba Dive gel liner on upper and lower lash lines
Black mascara

Rest of face:
2w glissade
Pomegranate pure rouge on cheeks
Smitten on lips

What a great combo!!!

Robyn, you HAVE to get a sample of Swank. It's an AMAZING color -- sort of silvery heathery bluish, lavenderish... so pretty. I like to use it as a subtle eyeliner.

The Elemental Lustres are so multi-dimensional. They;re really fun! And yet, not so brash that you can't wear them in public... (for those of us who are a bit nervous -- or constrained by dress codes)

Ok so I wanted to give it a shot and post a pic. I usually participate each week for the challenge, but don't take the time to post a photo. The application looks much better in person, I'm still getting a hang of the digital camera. As a photographer I'm not used to being the subject. I didn't take 80 frames so I sorta skimped on a good job. Okay enough excuses.

I don't have satin laces so I used delicate gold and brocade mixed. I first put it on the lid with swank in the crease and didn't like the look so I took it off and switched them around. I ususally look better with the lighter color in the crease. So I used swank wet on lid, then del. gold and brocade mix in crease, then blended with sophie inner corner and under brow. Lightly lined under lashes dry with swank, and black pencil upper lashes.

I skimped on my face, I just used scintillate perle powder, and a very light dusting of URFP in translucent (still playing with it). allure gloss.

So this is my basic summer break look. I'll work on my photography over the summer. I might just have to change my subject. hehe
