Due to all the talk lately about birds, I decided to create a theme about them. In the past, I did a Blue Jay look, so I am posting that here, and also adding other pictures of birds that would make for beautiful looks.

Oh I totally wish I didn't already do my eyes for the day. I would have done this look. It would be an AWESOME look! A toucan.

Here's a few parrots too.

Well,he's not the most colorful bird, but here's my cockatiel for inspiration. The gray on him is a muted, brownish-gray.

He's a cutie!
Does he talk at all?

Not at all; doesn't even whistle and hardly makes any noises. However, he's a very affection and amusing bird.

It's hilarious to watch him and my dog try to interact. The dog wants to sniff the bird, but the bird doesn't like that. Meanwhile, birds rely on their taste more than their sense of smell, so they put everything in their mouth. Jake does not like haivng his nosed nibbled by a bird. So Jake sniffs, Dino nibbles, and they both back off and look at me asking, "Exactly what am I supposed to do with this critter?"

How funny!

I am seeing the new Estranged Rocks! combined with some other colors for these first two birds..... I don't have Estranged but that is just an idea for someone else

I love hooty owls.. I used to collect them -not live ones! I have lovely bisque barn owl statue.
Great bird pics and that model is fantastic.

i know... i love owls too. my favorite are snow owls. i use to collect little figurines and stuffed animals for the longest time when i was much much younger. hmmmm... i wonder what ever happened to them.

I love owls, too! Up here we have tiny litle sawhet owls - about as big as a robin, really. We've also got barred out and barn owls, and all sorts of other ones I've not yet met. I love them!

And Sotisse, I love the story about Dino and Jake! Too funny, and how sweet that even though they might not cotton to each other's ways, they still are gentle friends!

The other night we were in the orchard with the hens. It's fenced off from the main yard so the birds are safer, and the dogs usually sit with their noses pressed into the wire mesh looking longingly in. (They are just sort of jealous of the time we spend with the hens). So we brought them in one at a time. Neither dog went after or chased the birds, and the hens went right up to the dogs and looked them in the eye. Jane our little crossed beak hen is quite bold and follows us around without fear. She explored Suzz's tail (SUzz is a border collie mix) and Piper's foot (Piper is a 105 lb golden retriever) with the same interest she uses on the baby's overall snaps and our wedding rings. Since her beak is crossed like an X instead of coming to a pint, she can't really peck hard, just sort of feels like someone poking you with a pencil. Anyway, for a bird dog and a herding dog to not try to either retrieve or herd the hens, I thought that was pretty cool. It was a peaceful night.

Here's my Green-Winged Macaw look.


All colors were used wet. Closest to the lashes I used flowers of romance, then grass and then mystery. Mystery was used from about mid lid to just above the crease. I tight lined with a black pencil and smudged then used death valley on the lower lash line. One coat mascara.

Wow, this is a very unique look-- quite different. It sure looks gorgeous!
