How do you like the base primer? I've been interested in it because MAC's painterly is too dark on me.

I really like the shadow base/primer, but I think my eyelids lean toward the oily side so I do get some creasing by day's end. However, I just started applying Bare Necessity (similar to Painterly?) first and then topping it with the shadow base/primer (a very little bit is all it takes to do the job) and I've been crease free all day. Yay!!!

I get the lasting effect of the Bare Necessity combined with the stickiness of the shadow base/primer so they work out great together. If you don't have oily issues, then the shadow base/primer would probably work well for you on its own.

The color is a nice light ivory and since you have to use so little of it, it's virtually transparent once applied. One thing I can't stress enough is "less is more" when it comes to the shadow base/primer. If you apply too much, it won't do what it's supposed to and the effect will be lost. It's meant to be applied very sparingly. Just a gentle pat, pat on the surface of the product and then pat, pat, pat it all over your lid area.

Sorry I was so long winded. But I hope that info helps.

I've noticed that the colors are brighter on me with the light primer than with the eye/lip primer.

I end up feeling like eye shadows with the eye/lip primer seem a bit muted, unlike with the light primer or my regular primer.

However the eye/lip primer is great on the lips.

Thank you for the picture comparison!

I've been lightly patting the AL shadow base on top of Too Faced Shadow Insurance because I like the tackiness of the shadow base and it lasts longer without creasing. The shadow base is very similar in texture to NYX Jumbo Eye Pencils.

Thanks, that helped a lot. I'll probably invest in it down the line.
