Since the pure hue colours are being discontinued and peacoat has sold out I'm on the lookout for a colour similar to peacoat. I have one sample of it but that would easily run out as you can imagine. I have searched the forum and have found one thread but that hasn't fully satisfied what I'm looking for. So basically I'm looking for a colour the same or similar to peacoat, a deep blue peacock feather colour, but I have no particular preference for finish (in fact the more dramatic and high intensity the better but do list any of the relevant one). And thank you in advance for your help!

I noticed that Sapphire Pure Eyes Frost and Peacoat are very similar. Good luck finding a shade like that but more intense (no black undertones)...I've been looking for that for ages!

Hey, I just realized that I may have an extra Peacoat. I'd be willing to trade it for another shadow (any color, any type, as long as I don't own it already). Haha, I make all shadows work Big Grin. I'll pm you when I can get back to my stash to check.

oh, i do wish i could but i have to say i don't have many! i've been stalking aromaleigh for a couple years but haven't got myself purchasing anything till these couple months and have only made two orders. is the peacoat new? if i could buy it off you that would be better and i can pay for the shipping because i can imagine it will horrendous as i'm from australia (assuming if you're from USA). i'm yet to receive my second order but i can tell you that i expect to receive full sizes of shadowplay, london dungeon, black celebration, agate, ballet, tea rose, grass and most of the pure hues... if you have any idea of what you like then i can tell you if i'm going to get it or not. thanks so much for your help!

Peacoat and Sapphire look about identical to me, so I say that's your best bet.

Oh, yeah, shipping to Australia! Well, the shadow is $3, so your main cost would be the shipping. I agree, I really have a hard time telling the difference between Sapphire and Peacoat. So, when I get back to my stash, I'll do a swatch comparison. I wouldn't want to make you trade in shadows from your first order, so if you don't think Sapphire and Peacoat look similar enough after I post pics, then I'd be willing to sell the shadow to you. I finally learned how to use Paypal for money transfers and I think that would be the best way to go if you know how to do that.

However, that would be a butt load of money to pay for shipping just one shadow! So hopefully Sapphire will fit the bill.

thanks so much, you're an angel.

i'm just hoping sapphire has that black base but if they are as similar as it looks on the website as it does in real life that would definitely solve my problem.

i really appreciate you're help, just the offer of selling yours is enough to make me smile!

HTH, sapphire is similar to peacoat, but it actually has additional ingredients in it that make it an eyeshadow oxides, etc- for improved wear, blending, longevity, etc...

Pure hues (straight mica) doesn't wear particularly well.

I stopped selling the Pure Hues because although I have always adv'd them as straight pigment, too many companies are selling JUST straight mica as eyeshadow, for dirt cheap- to consumers who think they've found a better deal than true creative handblenders of mineral makeup.

It's why I started the Mineral Makeup Mutiny.
http://www.mineralmakeupmutiny.com

To support small indie MMU biz who are making "the real thing" and not the repackagers running rampant and taking biz away from hard working companies making creative products.

(Sorry, small tangent there, but I'm really passionate about this)

Hi Daisy! I really don't mind. I totally understand lemming after a color you can't get anymore! I was that way about Tigrilla. I took some comparison pics. They have the same general hue, but Sapphire is more muted with a darker base and Peacoat is more vibrant. I am still definitely willing to sell and ship the Peacoat to you if you want Smile (It is unused, the seal is not broken). I have some other extras that you could buy at the same time as Peacoat so you didn't feel like you were wasting shipping on one shadow.

No base used, but I applied the shadows heavily.

No flash, filtered sunlight, Sapphire on top, Peacoat on bottom:

Flash, filtered sunlight, Peacoat on the left, Sapphire on the right.

i know miss k, and i fully support it as well. but of course i've been torn between getting the perfect shade or supporting this worthy cause. at least buying from a company that has been honest on this issue is of course much better than being ripped off by other companies that take advantage of an unaware buyer. i'm actually not that critical of your discontinuation of pure hues especially for the reasons but personally the colour peacoat was the first thing that caught my eye in the pure hues collection and actually was really the only thing i REALLY wanted from pure hues! so that's why i've been trying to find a replacement, it's all about the colour, and would be totally happy to use one if it is just as similar.

and thank you for the swatches tally7. they are quite similar but it seems peacoat is more vibrant. i'll have to think about it because as you said, one shadow for the amount it cost to ship really does bite. i guess if i do decide to buy it, i'll let you know. Smile

Hmmm, has anyone tried swatching spaceoddessy next to Peacoat? I know spaceoddessy looks dark on the website swatch, but I seem to remember it going on as more of a brighter blue... it's been a while since I've worn it though!

Hmmm, they are similar in hue...but spaceoddity is matte with sparkles and doesn't have the purple tinge. Spaceoddity is one of my faves, though! Smile

Here are the other shadows I have for sale, that might help you decide whether or not to have me ship the peacoat in addition to others you might want to buy:

Regal pure hue $3
Virtue and Titania and Grace Midsummer shadows(10g jar, 2* the size of the current jars) discontinued $5

Here are the descriptions:

Virtue: "glorious grey w/green/gold/bronze highlights"

I describe this as a warm grey. Search the aromaleigh forum for pics. (my favorite)

Grace has a medium green-grey matte base with an aqua/teal frost (my second favorite)

Titania has a matte teracotta base with an aqua frost

Kiki Lustre, 10 size, $4
Ocean Pure Frost, discont., $4
Midnight matte, 10 g size, $4

rocks! Doubledare, spellbound, dominion, spaceoddity, londondungeon, $3 dollars each

Crucible Elemental, $4

eyeliner sealants $2

Femme Fatale rocks! blush $6
Wildflower rocks! blush $6

Yes, my name is Tally and I am a horder TeeHeeHee (Well, not so much anymore. Who knew these AL shadows would last so long!).

Sorry I didn't reply. I had exams so I couldn't disrupt my study time on the forum. I'll look into the colours and I'll let you know if I'm thinking of purchasing it. I'm a bit broke right now because of other commitments and I'm thinking of making an online store. I don't know how much I've spent so far and I haven't even opened the shop yet! If all goes well I'll probably have money to spare and I'll definitely be getting some of the shadows off you. Hope that's alright!

Hey, no problem! I don't mind waiting...just get around to it when you are ready. But PM me and also email me at abalaban@email.unc.edu to make sure I get your message (if you end up wanting to purchase shadows).

What kind of online store, may I ask? Oh, and what sort of exams are you taking?

P.S. you are better than I am. I ALWAYS make sure and disrupt my study time with forum stuff if I have exams Razz.

Thanks. I was doing maths and visual arts, only two which is better than what my friends have to do, but i still feel sorry for myself because I have another year and they're enjoying the luxury of time and relaxation at the moment. The store is an etsy store most likely. There are probably too many out there, and almost impossible to be successful but it's been something I've been trying to start for a few years already. The store idea didn't work the first time so perhaps second time lucky? And it was supposed to be a group project too. Hopefully something will come of it. And I might do some shameless promoting later too Wink
