So, I posted previously about the problems I had with my first experience with Aromaleigh. I do think it was the pure cover that I used all over my face that was the problem. I tried again this weekend, and I used the silk powder first, and everything seems just fine! I did have a question about the coquilles. A few of you had recommended that I try jaune or vert to help correct redness. Should I use that before or after I use the foundation? I have dry skin, if that makes a difference. Also, the GL 2N is a little yellow for my skin. It was the color recommended on the BE to AL shade chart. Any suggestions? Thanks bunches!

face: 1CL Glissade, Jaune Coquilles, Illuminator or Metamorphasis finishing powder

I love blues, silvers, but I'm starting to branch out Wink

My skin has red undertones and I use a green mineral powder underneath mineral foundation. I use the flat top brush, but you could also use a kabuki or a mineral foundation brush. I use enough that my skin has a greenish tinge to it. When I apply my foundation with a different brush, no redness or green shows through. I would suggest Vert. Yellow tones are meant to cover blue or purple undereye circles, so unless you have that issue, I wouldn't suggest Jaune.

When I use green color correctors to mask redness, the green always ends up showing through on me no matter how lightly I apply it. When I'm feeling flushed on my chin/nose area, I use Juane and it tones it down perfectly.

If 2N (beige + yellow + peach + pink) was too yellow for you, perhaps you should try a sample of 2C (beige + peach + pink). If you find the 2C by itself doesn't have quite enough yellow, you could trying blending the 2C with 2YL (yellow/beige + beige). HTH!

Hmmm...that confirms what works for some doesn't work for all. I've tried yellow correctors and they do nothing for me. Interesting.

Thanks you guys! I'll get samples of both and just see what works best for me! And girl1der, thanks for the idea about the foundation. I was going to try a couple more colors, so I'll start with 2C and see how it goes!

If 2C doesn't work you can also try the other cool shades -- 2CL, 2P, 2PL. (Not many people wear 2P or 2PL so you can try those last if you don't want to sample all at once.)

You can wear the Coquilles either over or under your foundation, so try both to see what works best! Apply them with a fiber optic brush or any big fluffy powder brush or fan brush -- a little goes a long way so you'll want something that will give you a very sheer finish.

Vert is a bit too cool for my warm skintone (I wear Alabaster+1W) but there's several cool-toned gals who wear it. Juane works best for me. If you like Vert, you could also try the Parfait and Metamorphasis powders -- both have similar greenish tones that cancel redness.

Good luck and let us know if you have any more questions!

I add a yellow corrector under my foundation, it does tone down redness, but not as much as a green primer does.

I happen to be one of those 2PL people Smile... when I tried 2N, like you... I found it too yellow. I had a hunch that the 2PL would work, and I lucked out. (This is based on my past experience with other foundations being far too yellow on my skin) You could try 2C, 2L, and 2P and mix them ( for instance, 2PL = 2P + 2L)

Hope this helps a bit... I am glad that you found what was causing the dryness!

-Melissa

I just tried the green coquilles and love it. It doesn't appear green on me as long as I blend well. I just apply it over my reddest areas and blend well. As Runaround Sioux said, the yellow helps out with redness, but not as much as Vert.

So I use the green as a spot treatment, whereas I would recommend using a yellow as a light all over color corrector. That is the reason why I prefer YL as opposed to W for my foundation. W matches my skintone pretty well, but does nothing for the redness. The YL brings my face closer in color to my neck and does a better job evening out things overall.

With dry skin, make sure you're using well moisturized beforehand. I often mix a smidge of coquille in with my foundation so I don't end up putting too many layers of powder on my face.
