Hi everyone,

After some helpful advice I narrowed down my shade options and purchased Glissade samples in 2W, 2Y, 2YL, and 2N.

They arrived today and I had a good play with them! What I found looked best was a mix of 2Y and 2N, as pictured, what do you think?

It looks good in the first photo and very nice in the second. I also noticed that in the second photo, your neck is lighter than your face (as with most people) so I wondered if you also tried a mix of 1 and 2 to go a bit lighter than a straight 2? And if so, what did you think? Too light?

Congrats on getting your order!

The finish looks very natural and attractive, I think. I can't see any difference between the color you have on your face, and that on your neck, so that's a win, right? (Edit: I saw blueAnn posted that she thought your neck looked lighter... it's still a better match than what I get lately! ROFLMAO)

Also, the second picture is gorgeous! You look so healthy and glowing.

I do have a question for you, actually. Did you end up mixing the shades half and half or just lightening up the foundation as you went? I'm having a hard time matching my pale skin, and really like the results you got, so I'm curious. Smile

blueAnn, I think I would look too pale if I matched my neck. I found 2Y to be a lot lighter than 2N so if I wanted to lighten it up I could add more of that. I have to say I'm paler than I'm used to because I usually add lots of bronzer to make me look more alive and glowy but didn't find I needed to with this mix!

I forgot to mention that I'm wearing Peaches n Cream Ultra Resolution powder in the second pic which I really like!

Thank you for your comments Paintmoogle! Since I'm still working with samples I just put half and half of the two shades onto a saucer and mixed them up there before applying. I guess when I buy full sizes I would buy one of each, mix them up in a bowl or something then put them back into the containers. Hope that helps!

I like both pictures! I do noticed the slight difference between face and neck in the second photo. Did you put the peaches n cream just on your face, or blend down your neck? If you didnt try that, it might help the two colors blend more maybe? Im still struggling to find my perfect shade so I dont have a whole lot of solid advice but seems like its worth a try! Smile

I have the same problem - I match my face, not my neck, or I'd look way too pale. You can always take your kabuki (or sponge) and sweep it lightly down your neck, which will add just enough color to make everything blend perfectly.

I hope this means you'll be posting some looks in the very near future!!

This is what I do, since there's a slight difference between my face and neck. It really does the job of evening out my makeup. I just use the small amount left on my brush after I've done my face.

MG, this is definitely a good match for you, and there's only a tiny bit of difference between your face and neck colors. You look really pretty in the second picture. I hope you're happy with AL and start posting some looks!

Hey,

I like the first picture better. You look VERY natural there! It looks like you're not even wearing make up.
Very nice!

I have the same issue of trying to match a face that has freckles with a neck that doesn't. With that said, I think the 2y/2n combo is just a tad bit "colorful" for you. I personally feel that 2n is a difficult color to wear because it has pink, peach and yellow in it. In the photos, your skin tone (what I see on your chest/neck) doesn't appear to have that much color in it.

One thing I had trouble with in the beginning (when I was trying to figure out my perfect combo - I'm still a work in progress after nearly 2 years) was feeling too bland or pale once I had my skintone evened out with the foundation. For example, 2yl is nearly a perfect match for me but it's difficult for me to "see it" until I have the rest of my face on. Since I regularly use a light sunless tanner to even out my tone, I now use a combination of 2y/2yl/2w.

Looking at your skintone, I think either 2yl by itself or a combination of 2y and 2y/l (or maybe even 2yl/2n if you like a bit more color) might be a better match for you. But without blush and eyeshadow on, you might feel a bit washed out at first.

I'd love it if you would post other foundation combinations for us. Please add your usual other cosmetics (blush, eyeshadow, lipstick, etc.) to the look so we can give an accurate assessment. It's always difficult for me to evaulate when the only thing on someone's face is foundation.

As other's have said in the past (and I agree), foundation shouldn't make you look more alive and glowy. It should match your skintone. Then you add blush and the other things to liven up your face.

Whatever you decide on, suffice it to say you ARE gorgeous! But please indulge me and post your other foundation looks. Pretty please?

Now that I think about maybe I didn't sweep the foundation and finishing powder down my neck, oops! The next time I put makeup on I did this and it does help them match more, without drastically changing the colour of neck or face, yay!

Robyn, after reading all the positive comments I went ahead and mixed my samples of 2N and 2Y together and put them into a pot. But looking again at my pics my face does look a little colourful! When I do my makeup today I will try some 2YL with my mix and take some pictures. 2YL just looks too pale for me on its own!

Here is a picture with 1/4 2Y, 1/4 2N, and 1/2 2YL.

My neck is closer in colour to my face with this mix, and it looks ok in the photos... but in person I just don't really like it! I think I look tired and my skin looks a bit dull...

It's hard to tell from pictures, but if your skin looks "dull," try using less beige (L) -- so try cutting back on the 2YL Smile

You should definitely use whatever combination looks best to you in person. If you're happy, that's really all that matters. I know sometimes it's hard to capture on film what it really looks like in person.
