I just got my first samples of pure cover, glissade foundation, and illuminator powder yesterday! I've been so excited waiting for these to come. I used the pure cover all over, cuz I have a lot of redness, then the glissade and finished with illuminator. I only did this on one side of my face, to see if it looked like it blended well, and looked natural. The colors were a great match to my natural skin color (PC #2, GL 2N). Here's my problem. My skin started to feel tight after just a few minutes. This morning, that side of my face is very dry. I have dry skin anyway, and during the winter it is much worse. I have used BE for 9 years and never had a problem with it drying out my skin. I really want AL to work for me, and I'm not wanting to change my skin care, it's the only thing that doesn't dry out my skin, but keeps me from breaking out! Any suggestions, would be great!

AL's foundation doesn't contain bismuth, which is usually what makes your skin feel tight. (BE's has this)

Changing products can cause a reaction if your skin is sensitive, so I'd suggest using only 1 AL product per day to see if you can determine if any particular product is bothering you. You may not notice anything, and in a few days your skin will be used to the new products.

Hope that helps!

Maybe there was too much Pure Cover on? Since it's really meant for spot cover up, I can see how it would be tight feeling.

I suggest spot pure cover, foundation, then a dusting of metamorphosis/parfait (depends on what type of finish you like) since it's tinted green to help cancel out redness.

Or, you could have some spring water in a spray bottle & once you're finished applying your face, spritz it. I do that throughout the day typically.

Also, it might be helpful to know when you put your moisturizer on?

I always put my moisturizer on and let it sink in before I ever put on my foundation.

My skin has some dry areas but isn't dry overall.

I second what Zhariel says and demoness, too. I spritz my face with a spray toner after I apply my make-up.

Also, I put on a good moisturizer before I put on any make-up.

I'd have to say the for BE it actually made my skin feel oily after the day was done, except for my dry spots which would get flaky and I would have to dab some moisturizer onto them.

I have been doing the Oil Cleansing Method for about a week. It is awesome so far and I just love it. Love! I would say that I would probably help your dry skin by not drying it out further. Smile Hope that helps!

I think that the Pure Cover may be the culprit, too. I use Glissade and Illuminator (mixed with Silk powder from another brand) but I don't use the Pure Cover. My skin is dry to combination at times, but I don't experience the tightness and dryness that you describe.

Cin may be on to something when she said that your skin may be reacting to too many new products at once. I would try eliminating the Pure Cover first and see how your skin reacts. Then go from there.

If it is the Pure Cover causing the dryness... perhaps try the Coquilles in Vert or Jaune to counteract the redness instead. If it is the finishing powder, try Parfait or Metamorphosis to cancel out some redness. Though I personally adore the glow that Illuminator gives me.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I will definitely try again without the Pure Cover this time and see how it goes. I usually apply my moisturizer and a primer, and then wait a few minutes before applying my makeup. I will definitely try the Coquilles for my redness reduction! Thanks again!

I don't have dry skin myself, but a few thoughts:

If Pure Cover is the culprit, you have a few other options: anything with green or yellow tones will help cancel out redness, so consider sampling Coquille in Juane or Vert, and the Metamorphasis and Parfait powders. Any of these products can be used either underneath or on top of your foundation, so you can experiment to see which you like best!

Also, the Silk primer can help balance moisture, adding moisture to dry skin and sopping up oil on oily skin.

Finally, I haven't tried this, but you can also try mixing your minerals with your moisturizer to create a tinted moisturizer.

Good luck!
