Hi all im new here too.

A friend of mine passed me samples for voile and glissade, i LOVED the look and the finish of it. AMAZING. Im like voile a lot more though. So im here to buy samples, but some help with the shade would help!

Im MAC NC 20 , i have olive/yellow undertones.
Voile in 3N is too pink and is a bit too dark for me.

I have oily skin , so i would like to know which primer to try. And which finishing powder would suit me as well.

Thanks all i look forward to trying them all out!

Hi - welcome to Aromaleigh!

You want to match your skintone, not just the foundation you used to wear. I suggest the following options for NC20s:

level 1 if the NC20s were sometimes too deep, level 2 if they were about right, level 3 if they were sometimes too light.

Tones of W, Y and L - you can mix the Y and L or W and L 50/50 to test the ready made blends, or also sample YL and WL.

Given your self description, perhaps the 2Y or 2YL will be the most likely suspect, but I still think you should try all the warmer tones to be sure.

hth!

-b.

My coloring - Fair, naturally curly dark red hair, freckles (light golden), combo to oily skin, use 1W Glissade and/or Voile, although I can and have worn 1Y, 1Y/L, and 1Y/L/00 at different times. Would describe my coloring as neutral - not a classic Autumn, not really a Winter, maybe more of a Late Fall?

Bridget already gave you great advice about foundation -- AL has many more color options than Mac so there's several colors that may work for an NC20 Smile

For oily skin, I recommend sampling Porcelaine Primer, Silk Primer, and Ultra Resolution Finishing Powder. Experiment with application to see what you like best -- any of these products can be worn over or under foundation, and try applying a heavy coverage with a sponge or a light coverage with a fluffy brush to see what works best for you. Too much Porcelaine may be drying for some people but may work great for really oily skin Smile Porcelaine and URFP are also great for preventing my Voile from streaking or rubbing off due to my oily skin -- so even if I get shiny my Voile otherwise still looks good!

I have super oily skin and to save application time, I mix up a jar of 50/50 Silk and Porcelaine and apply it with a sponge as a primer, then use URFP on top of my Voile.

Voile: 1W+Alabaster ~ Clear & Warm Skintone ~ Blue Eyes ~ Dark Blonde Hair ~ 28 Years Old

Current AL obsessions:
Eyes: Cascade, Orinoco, Aurora, Coppelia, Entangle
Cheeks: Corset, Nectar, Myrtle, Sundaygirl
Lips: Notorious, Wallflower, Melancholia, Rosebud
