Does anyone know the best regimen for my skin type? I rarely break out anymore. I'm super oily. But my main concern right now is getting my visible capillaries taken care of. I plan on getting them lasered again like I did 3 years ago, but I'd like to know if anyone knows the best skin care regimen for this type of skin. I've read that retinol products and vitamin c are both good for this type of skin. I'm wondering if any type of acid may be too strong & possibly contribute/irritate my visible capillaries? I want to make sure I'm not overdoing it with skin care. I've also read to use alcohol-free products & of course, wear sunscreen everyday.
I'm also trying to remember to take my vitamin c with bioflavinoids to help strengthen my veins & I plan on buying vitamin k also since my current multi-vitamin only gives me 31% of my daily value.
I use mud masks for my oily skin. I don't believe this contributes to any capillary irritation, but I want to avoid anything that MIGHT or WILL.

Foundation: 2y voile with a tiny amount of 2yl sometimes. (Can also wear 2W)

I have VERY delicate allergic type skin, and my experience with Vitamin C has been that it REDUCED the capillaries around my nose!!!! And yes, it's acidic but I didn't die from it!! ha ha. I am ver happy using vitamin C on my skin, haven't had any problems.

This is very good to know, Pinky! Thanks! Are you using Al's Vitamin C? I tried it once and don't think I was irritated by it. I'll have to order some when it's on sale.

I'm also not sure if I should be using retinol, resveratrol or fruit acid products. But I also have visible capillaries on my upper chest and I've never used harsh scrubs or acids THERE, so that makes me think it's not caused by that. I'm thinking it's just thin skin and sun damage. I know for sure the skin on my face and chest is thinner than the skin on my thighs, for example.

I definitely second the vote for Vit C. I had a broken cappilary on my nose, near the tear duct. I used AL's Vit C mist and by the time I finished the bottle it was gone. Just POOF! lol That may seem like a long time, but I used it 2-3 times a day so.. also, I don't really know how they work, but it hasn't come back. Not even a little. Smile

For you chest I would definitely try the Vit C serum and just slather it on. Ha. I'm looking to do that for myself since I have a perma sunburn there.

Thanks Shinyjes! Wow, that sounds very encouraging. I'll have to check and see if the serum is on sale now. Maybe I'll buy it anyway!

I think it's a great idea to take the vitamin C supplements you mentioned. Sunscreen is also very important, as you know. It is true that irritating products can cause broken caps. What causes more of them for me though is squeezing pores and blackheads. That's a big no no for me and guaranteed to give me broken caps! The only other things I know of that can fix them are time (sometimes they go away on their own, but often not), or you can have them lasered off.

My only advice that hasn't been mentioned yet for the oily but sensitive skin type is to be careful not to dry it out with harsh cleansers and scrubs meant for oily skin. They won't be good if your skin is at all sensitive. I would just go for a basic, gentle cleanser, and you can use mattifying products like the Ultra Res powder and blotting sheets on your oily areas when necessary. A lot of times treating your skin gently can help decrease the oilyness, too. HTH.

Coloring: 1W Glissade (can get by with N or Y) Hazel eyes, hair back to dark red. Looks best in neutral or slightly cool-toned makeup.
Favorite products: Magnetism gel liner, Rocks! Rouges, Pinafore Color Cream, Adelaide EDT. Have yet to try an eyeshadow I didn't love.

If you take vitamin C supplements, take Ester C. Read what Dr. Perricone has to say about it.

As for vitamin C stuff, I haven't used Aromaleigh's, simply because I began using Cellex-C a long time ago. It's very expensive for what you get, and it's very acidic.... but at this point I'm used to it. And it's a totally different product from what Kristen offers. It's a liquid that I dispense with a dropper. Not easy to use, and can I tell you how many times I have tipped the little bottle over and there goes $100 down the drain? I think the AL stuff is worth a whirl....

Thanks, ladies! I do take Vitamin C supplements with rosehips and bioflavinoids 2-3x per day. I know that at least for some or even all of my facial skin, picking at it did not cause the visible caps, because I have a few on my neck and on my chest. That might be due to sun exposure, but the skin there is also quite thin. I also have some on my legs. I read this can also be genetics, hormone changes, etc. What's the difference between Ester C and say, the C that I'm taking?

Yeah, I'm gentle with my skin. In the past, I might have used some products that could have irritated my skin, maybe permanently. I'm not sure though if that's the culprit, though. Anyway, I'm using something now that is supposed to really help with brightness and also, it has helped some people's visible caps go away. I hope it works! It has Resveratrol in it, which is the anti-oxidant in red wine. I'm sort of confused about it though, because how can it help people with visible caps when it's a vasodilator. I'd think you'd need to use something that is a vasoconstrictor!!!!
