I had success with a parred down make-up kit for a weekend getaway and wanted to share it with you all...

Not wanting to travel with all of my brushes and powders, I mixed up a tinted moisturizer with my usual day moisturizer/sunscreen + Glissade, and used Darling and Blankgeneration on my cheeks as creme blushes.

I did end up packing 3 small brushes... an eyeliner brush, a shadow brush and a fluffy brush for my Illuminator Silk Powder mix (I couldn't completely rely on tinted moisturizer alone and adore the finish I get with this.)

I only packed one shadow... a charcoal gray creme shadow that did double-duty as a liner and a shadow.

My skin and I were happy with the results. But I missed my sample binder and drawers of many colors, I must say.

What about you? What are your favorite travel items/tips?

I always carry some makeup in my purse for those days when I didn't get a chance to apply anything until I was already out the door.

Unfortunately, I'm a bit of a perfectionist so I have to have dupes of everything I like to use back home. -_- That means I carry around an eyelash curler, multiple eye colors, a few powders, primers... too much.

The only reason it's still "portable" is because some of my favorite products are made in travel sizes. I also save some space by packing mini brushes. They're not as good, and they get dirty, though. (yuck)

For the minerals though, I just bite the bullet and throw 'em in "as is," even though they can get messy.

Man, now you've got me thinking about how I should streamline my emergency beauty kit. It's great being able to create the same "quality" look as I do at home, but maybe I could come up with a simple look like you did that's just as good. Smile

For the 3-4 day trips I use the powder compact and put my foundation minerals in there, and use the mini kabuki. I take along sample baggies of silk powder, finishing powder, plus one fluffy brush for the finishing powders. For eyes I take several sample baggies of eyeshadows that I pick out to go with my outfits plus one eyeshadow brush. I take my eyeliner brush, carbon and nude frost. I use the Rocks! lippies as both the lip color and as the creme blush and again choose which ones to bring based on what I will wear. It sounds like a lot, but packs very small and can fit in my purse.

Other stuff I do to pack small for the 3-4 day trips:
I've recently bought bar shampoo and take a small slice of it with me. I also have a reversible skirt. I take a black jacket top that goes with everything. I take sample size packets of moisturizers and cleansers from DHC that come from their catalog and use my small DHC travel kit with the olive oil cleanser and moisturizer and toner.

Blue-eyed brunette. Necessities : 2W or 2WL with 1Y, Bella gloss or Belladonna lipstick, venomous or scubadive gel liner

I probably pack too much Wink I take all of my everyday products (primers, foundation, concealors, mascara, etc.) and all the brushes/tools I need for these products. I usually bring two blushes, a warm and cool, so I have something to go with everything. One or two neutral gel eyeliners that go with everything (e.g. Chocolate Mousse, Black Cherry). (Sometimes just one blush and liner for a quick weekend trip.) One or two of my favorite lippies. And a big pile of eyeshadow sample baggies so I can still play with color Smile

When we're driving it's no big deal, I can easily fit all our toiletries in a small carry-on type bag, and toss our clothes in another small suitcase. For flying, I always have way too many liquids to carry them all on (hair products, acne products, moisturizers, toothpaste, gel deodorant, etc, etc....) so I just toss them all in a checked bag. I transfer everything I can into to travel-sized containers so there's still plenty of room for my makeup Wink

Don't know what I'd do if I suddenly had to hop a plane - I guess it would depend on the circumstance. I'd probably beg MO2A Melissa to come help me pack!

I do keep my AL compact in my purse. It's got the little sponge in there which works fine for emergency touch ups. I did downsize my purse so that I can no longer keep 2540298759 lippies in it. I try to narrow it down to 3-4 max. And that's it!

I travel with a travel brushset from EcoTools. Its four brushes that covers the basic. And I take a bunch of eyeshadow samples, mascara and foundation! But I recently got two of the flocked sponges, so will use that to put on foundation now! I always bring the sealant so I can use the eyeshadows as liner and hence save space. But, in the end, I only take samples when travelling, takes no space and no weight.

I bring samples of my favorites. I put the sealant in a tiny bottle with a dropper-tip. I bought a travel size brush kit and it all fits in a small make-up pouch. I limit my lippies to 2 neutral colors (unless it's X-Mas at the in-law season, then I bring a bright red as well) And since I can't make up my mind, I bring about 30 eyeshadow colors, but since they're samples...they all fit. Smile I LOVE the samples!

I am still using my tinted moisturizer and it has been a few weeks since my trip. I love the extra coverage and wear it gives me when paired with the loose powder foundation. It is awesome! I think I will be making a full batch for everyday.

Thanks for chiming in on your travel tips, ladies!
