Okay. So July 18th was my stepbrother's wedding. I did my makeup and wore my dress and my special ankh, and I thought I looked pretty alright. When I looked in the mirror before I left home, my eye makeup looked about as perfect as I can get it. There was no fallout under my eyes. However, when I came home, there was a ton of fallout under my eyes. I used L'Oreal De-Crease as a primer. Could it be my primer wasn't good enough? Did I pat on too much of the minerals? What did I do wrong and how can I prevent this in future so that I don't look like a walk-of-shame case?

If you had fallout after you knew everything looked good, then it could be your primer failing you. It is possible that you packed on too much mineral on your eyes. One thing you can do is to lightly brush over the pigment with a fluffy blending brush.

I always look down into a small hand mirror, instead of holding the mirror in front of me. Any loose pigment that doesn't adhere to the primer ends up on the mirror and not under my eye or on my cheek.

I hope this helps. Smile

I agree something went wrong with the primer. You can also set the eyeshadows when they are applied dry by using a fine mister in addition to a better primer.

SassyBanjo has the best tips for fallout prevention during application - I have to look down as well or I wind up with a very colorful undereye area!

For primers, I've had good luck using the indelible creme shadows (Nude Frost is what I have right now) and lightly layering the eyeshadow colors to the intensity I want with a small eyeshadow brush. I had very little creasing and no fallout the last time I tried this with some rather heavy layering of the Sonic Rocks line, and the shimmer underneath made a bolder impact on the look, too. Smile

Most of the time, I avoid fallout with the layering method - using a small, rounded shadow brush (wet or dry - I prefer dry), tap off the excess powder and then some, pat the brush on your lids, and repeat the dip-tap-pat process to desired color density. I do think you need a primer though, no matter what. I also noticed that depending on my mascara choices, I wind up with unexpected black circles under my eyes as well before the day is over. (Seriously, the best results I've gotten for mascara are the cheapie drugstore brands. YMMV, of course.) This can be made worse if my undereye concealer is heavy - the oils in that act like makeup remover and I wind up with my shadow under my eye instead of on the lid! :P

Hope that helps!

I would also like to add that sometimes there could be fallout and you don't realize it until the oils in your skin have had a chance to mix with the tiny particles. I always give my entire face (minus the upper eyelids) one last dusting of whatever's left on my big powder brush just to make sure no fallout is left.
