I've been trying to turn one of my best friends on to AromaLeigh, and she has very very oily skin. She's now been able to wear mineral foundation with a primer. However, everything on her eyes melts off. I brought in my Pink Pearl Indelible Cream Eye Shadow today for her to try, as I was sure this wouldn't be the case. She tried it and just about 3 to 4 hours later you can see where it creased and totally came off her eye lid (the brow part was fine). She hasn't had luck with any sort of makeup (MAC included) and keeping her eye shadow in one piece.

Does anyone have any suggestions? I was really shocked that the indelible cream eye shadow came off her lid and creased.

It creased on me too. Frown I use UDPP and it works through it all. Sometimes I use UDPP and then something like janes mineral gel liner all over and then put piggies on top and that holds up under heat and oil super.

My thoughts...she could try the eye shadow primer (or another primer like Urban Decay Primer Potion, as Neli mentioned) specifically for this purpose. Or she could try dusting a layer of Porcelaine Primer or URFP on under her eye shadow to see if that helps soak up the oil. If none of that works, I would try using the gel eyeliner as a cream eyeshadow. I know some ladies have applied it that way using a concealer brush, and it is the most smudge-proof, stay-put stuff I can think of. You could use any color, but some that I think would work especially well are Penny, Ivy League, Tanzanite, and Marcasite.

Thanks everyone for suggestions.
I'm passing them along to my friend.
I just had no idea what to tell her, because the cream eye shadows work for me, and I was so sure that they'd work for her!

Zhariel,

I approached this thread to get an answer for myself. I have been using AL's eyeshadow primer but it does not keep my shadow from creasing or fading. Like your friend, by two to three hours in the day, I can barely see the color I applied.

I went surfing for the answer and from what I found "BareVitamins Prime Time Eyelid Primer" works very well, based on the reviews I found. I purchased it this evening, on BE's site for $16.00 + 3.95 s/h.

I will let you know whether or not it helps me so you can let your friend know about it, if it does work.

Dawn

AL's shadow primer didn't keep my make-up on for longer than 3-4 hours, but the cream shadows do the trick for me. They crease after a few hours if I use them by themselves, but with a dusting of shadow on top, both stay put all day (and evening) until I take them off. I work outdoors in the heat and dust -- so I'm really amazed this combo works so well for me!!

I'm working tomorrow -- I hope we get a ton of customers, but suspect that since it's the last day of the Fair (AND the Fair has fireworks), we;ll have another day of low attendance....

I have oily eyelids as well, but the AL primer works for me as long as I mix my eyeshadow with the eyeliner sealant as well. And with the primer, the tiniest bit works the best.

Current faves: Black out gel liner, Swank EL, Torrid EL, Virtue, and Corset blush.

I tried the eyeliner sealant too but I don't think foiling looks good on me. Maybe I'm just not used to the brightness. The sealant seemed to not have much staying power on my lid. I do like to use it on my lower lashes for the mineral shadows and eyeliners.

Since I'm waiting for the new eye primer to come, this morning I put the AL shadow base on and on top of that, I applied a little of the Coquille (Jaune). I noticed today that the shadow base has mineral oil as a main ingredient. It makes sense that mineral oil shouldn't be applied to oily eyelids. I figured that putting something like Coquille or Ultra Resolution powder may help to absorb the oil. I'll guess I'll see how that goes, in a few hours.

UDPP, definitely. I've been meaning to try Aromaleigh's primer but I just can't use up my UDPP! I've been using it for a year every day and I still have about 3/4 left. Someone on this board recently complained that it gets used up so quickly (and is so expensive) but really that's not true at all. Just google UDPP and you'll find tons of videos on how to get 4x the primer out of that odd-shaped tube. Yes, it's messy, but this primer will solve most eyeshadow problems - creasing, intensity, fading. I promise to try AL's at some point though!

BE eyelid primer works well for my oily lids. I tried Lumene -- not very well. I keep hearing good things about UDPP.

I chose BE Prime Time Primer over UDPP because some reviewers said BE's was better than UD's. Of course, we know personal preference comes into play. What was important to me is that I find mostly positive reviews before I buy.

I know I'm late to the party but my two cents (which I got off a review of the indelible base haha) is to use your finger to apply. I tried applying a similar product with different brushes and I tried using a finger and a teeeeny amount of product: bam! My eyeshadow lasted till I got home. 100% crease free. Awesome.

I actually had her try it by using a little bit of product applied by her finger (as i apply a thin layer with my finger). It unfortunately came off in 3 or 4 hours.
I was completely shocked because the cream eye shadows won't budge off of me.
