I got really tired sifting through my sample baggies (no offense Kristen! I understand it's economical) & decided to organize my eyeshadows. I'm the type of person that NEEDS to have my stuff laid out all in front of me. I mean, I forget what all I have!

I had my sight set on getting little jars & just filling them up. Simple, right? Well, I never thought it would be so hard to find the jars. It turned out to be impossible, but then stumbling into Michael's I found something so much better than I had imagined.

Just look at all the prettiness! I just love looking at them because they're so organized. Gah! This has helped a lot in developing new color combination's because I see what I have. Sky is the limit.

I have them labeled underneath.

Now, I'm set into getting another beading box to put the already jarred samples (from other companies) into so those are all lined up.

I'm already gonna have to get more boxes (hope they don't stop stocking them!) because I have more colors in my future. Smile

So so pretty that way.

I have all mine in little slide pages in a binder, all organized by color or by collection. Certain collections, like the plush collection must live together on their own page. LOL!

I don't have the patience to decant the hundreds of little baggies into jars

Wow, that's so neat! I like my binder, but they look like paints this way...you say these are made for beaders? Are they the 5 gram size? If so, I might have to drop by Michael's to get a box for my reg shadows.

That was a great find!

Great storage! Michael's Crafts has a variety of storage containers, many of them are in the beading section, some are in the general craft area. I've got the big ones, to prevent any rolling about inside the storage cart.

Keep the lids on nice & tight - anything that spills out I pour into one container and end up with an interesting Frankenstein mix, as MommiePretty calls it.

Hoyden - I was wearing thin on transferring them into the jars, but I stuck through it. Looking at my stack of samples after the first 3, I was thinking, "God, you're an idiot. Should have just left them!"

DiziVictoria - I'm going to say they're 10g jars. I can fit two full sized shadows in one. I dropped a sample in & laughed because of how much room was left in the container.

Cin - The lids screw onto one another, so they're stacked together. I worry about the tightness & me possibly snapping one due to me constantly checking if it's tight enough. We shall see...

When I saw this posted, I knew I had to go to Michael's. I totally swiped your idea, but I'm glad I did, cuz it's so much easier to see my samples and see the colors. I am new to Aromaleigh (~1 month) so i don't have near as many samples as you do! Thanks for posting this! I never would have even thought about checking there.

demoness, I wanted to thank you for your idea, too!

I saw this thread when I was new to Aromaleigh and popped down to Michael's and got myself the same jars. I have FOUR cases of them already!

I think this idea is particularly nice because the pigments look so different in a nice, clear jar than they do in a bag. I also have found it easy to label them; I just peel the label off the baggie and fold it onto the bottom of the jar.

Organization also comes easily, as the jars slide around to make room for new colors!

Finally, I've been able to keep up with the decanting process fairly easily because I'm new and my collection is slowly trickling in. It's actually therapeutic for me! I look forward to taking some "me time" in my kitchen, emptying the little gems into their own jar and admiring their colors in the sun!

So thanks again. I really feel that this idea has taken my enjoyment of loose pigments to the next level. Happy Dance

Oh, it's no problem! I already need a 4th box as well. I figured if I had it all laid out, I'd stop buying so much...but I didn't. Smile

It doesn't help in the area of now R can see all that I have & constantly says, "Don't you have enough?" "Uh, no, I'm a girl. Hello!" ROFLMAO

Hahaha! That IS a problem.

My S.O. has actually gone out and bought me some of the cases of jars of his own volition. In that way, we're really bad for each other: we spoil each other's need to indulge in our hobbies way too much.

If you ever end up needing small non-stackable makeup jars, I'd suggest eBay, since that's where I used to get my jars for samples (I think I paid about $10 for 50 3g or 5g jars and labels). I don't like the stackables myself (I had one burst while I was traveling, and lost probably 8g of pigment), but it seems like they'd be a lot easier to manage with cases like that.

I love my makeup bold, and while I think neutrals look good on others, I hate them on myself.

WOW! I have been searching for a way to organize my ES so that I can see them all at one, yours looks awesome! Just curious, do the full sized jars fit in those cases as well?

As in, can you transfer a full size into the stackable jars? You can actually fit two full size shadows in each container.

The cases come with the stackable jars. I'm sure you could buy a beading box & lay the jars on its side in each square. I plan on doing that with some other eyeshadows I have.

I've tried storing some of my full sized shadows in beading boxes that I already own and they don't fit very well. Frown Sounds like I'll be heading to michael's!!
Thanks!

Michaels recently redid their beading section and now they have an amazing selection of new beads of exceptional quality, better LE lines and an excellent expanded storage selection. I must confess I haven't checked all the storage out yet but before you head on down to peruse the goodies be sure to either check your Sunday paper or sign up for the online newsletter and use your COUPONS! It's the best way to maximise your budget and stock up for less. I rarely buy anything for full price if I can help it, being coupon and sale savvy is definitely the way to go! Big Grin (especially when your funds are a bit more modest than you'd like Frown )

Btw, that's a great idea. I'm looking at my desk and it is overflowing with recent sample acquisitions and I'm thinking I better get something to tame the piles lol
