I just got three new metallic colors and they are GORGEOUS!! I got Azalea, Fig (Opulent Lustre) and Wonder (Elemental Lustre). I have learned today that metallics don't look the best on me because they're too shiny for my older eyelids. Since I have too many eye lines and creases, the metallics tend to make them stand out.

Instead of being discouraged that I bought items that don't suit me, I decided to remedy the situation and glad to know it worked. I figured I'd share it with you, in case you find this tip helpful.

I have a f/s jar of Pure Eyes Matte in "Ice" (white) on hand. After I saw that Azalea was too gleamy on my eyelid, I placed a small amount of "Ice" on a flat, synthetic brush and tapped over it lightly. Voila! No more sheen. I also placed "Fig" in the crease and "Wonder" in the "V" and then I dusted them lightly with "Ice" as well.
(Ice also makes a great highlight under the brow).

What I like to do with pigments that don't work for me, is take a smidgen of white matte, a little at a time, add it to the jar of eyeshadow, continuing until I get a shade that I can work with. I got this idea, when I used to wear pigments from About Face Cosmetics. Some of the really pigmented shadows were hard to work with, so I would "wash them out" by adding a small amount of matte white to the jar, a little at a time. It helps if you have an extra jar of white matte as a backup for this.

Blond, blue eyes, can wear cool colors mostly, some warms, and neutrals

Maybe they would still work in the crease paired with a light neutral or as a liner.

I do the same thing, mix them with Ice or Ebony if I want to darken them. It works great, you still get a nice sheen but not too metallic-y.

And sometimes I mix a little lustre in with a matte to give it a bit more oomph.

I do like metallics placed on my lower lash line. It tends to brighten my eyes and is not overwhelming.
