I have really oily skin and I sometimes use (when I'm not being lazy) tea tree oil OR ylang ylang oil mixed in my face mask and/or my face cleanser. I only put one drop into the quarter sized amount of cleanser, and let it sit on my face for several minutes. This has helped my skin remained matte longer than not using anything. I particularly like ylang ylang, as it seems to be calming and moisturizing my skin as well as reducing sebum. It's supposed to balance both oily and dry skins. If you choose to try this, just use a little amount first because essential oils can be very strong. I found what works for me, just one drop from the bottle's dispenser. If your bottle doesn't have a dispenser, dip a q-tip in, then let one drop fall from the q-tip into the palm of your hand where your cleanser is, or in the bowl, where your face mask mixture is. Hope this helps any gals with oily skin. I use the essential oils once per day and on days where I mask, twice, the 2nd time being mixed with my mask. By the way, I never get results from products that contain essential oils. I only see real results when I use the pure, essential oils themselves and make my own mix.

I find manuka oil to be even more helpful than standard tea tree. Manuka smells better and, while being very effective on my skin, doesn't burn or overdry.

Nature's Gift makes what they call "Synergies," which are pure essential oil blends for different purposes. Their Clarifying Synergy contains manuka, helichrysum (immortelle), and roman chamomile. It's been wonderful on my skin, I add a touch of it to masks, sometimes I even put a single drop in my moisturizer for the day. I have seborrheic dermatitis, which is linked to fungal problems, so the manuka helps with that as well. The helichrysum has lessened scarring and redness.

I already do this with tea tree oil, but now I'll keep ylang ylang oil and manuka oil in mind as well. Thanks for sharing!

I've heard of manuka honey, but not manuka oil. I will look into this. Thanks! So far, every commercial product that has essential oils in it has disappointed me. When I use them/blend them myself, I get much better results for some reason.
