Sometimes I have problems with my left eye (yes, only my left) watering up at the worst times when I'm applying makeup. It gets really moist in the outer corner and ruins the whole area, especially any liner I may have applied.

The thing I don't get is why it's just the left eye! My right eye has never done that. I don't use harsh brushes to apply my makeup, so I don't think I'm poking myself. I'm also ambidextrous, so I don't think I'm better at one eye over the other.

The watering stops after about ten minutes, and it only happens a few times a week. Still, I wish I knew a way to save my work from the odd reaction. Sometimes I don't have time to sit around and wait to redo my eye because I have to be somewhere! Mad

Does anybody have any tips for keeping tears from ruining makeup?

Is there a certain product you use every day? Perhaps it's a reaction to a product. I know that my normally dry eyes water like crazy whenever I use the Eyeliner Sealant -- I finally gave up on wetlining! They seem to be happier with gel liners Smile

Hmm, no advice other than to hold a piece of tissue in that corner to try and sop up any fluid and prevent running.

Hopefully you can figure out what's going on and stop it from happening.

No tips, but I have the exact same problem, in the same way. It doesn't happen all the time, but on occasion, my left eye will water, either ruining whatever makeup I already put there, or making it very difficult to put makeup on, since the area is damp. It drives me bonkers, since I'm fairly sure it's not due to an allergy.

I love my makeup bold, and while I think neutrals look good on others, I hate them on myself.

Well, it makes me feel a lot better that it's not just me. TeeHeeHee It's terrible because it seems like it always happens right when I've got something pretty cool going on.

As for products I use every day: Urban Decay's Primer Potion and Max Factor mascara. I could try going without them and see if it makes a difference.

I'm also going to try Cin's advice and just use a tissue or something next time to see if I can't redirect the tears until my eyes decide that they like me again.

One of the first things I do in the morning right after I wake up is use Naphcon eyedrops. My eyes are just very irritable in the morning. I don't know if it is related to dust mites in the downy wonderland I call my bed... yeah, I know- gross- but dust mites are EVERYWHERE...

So, I use the drops, it helps greatly. If I don't, my eyes are itchy and makeup just makes it worse.

I do also use the eye primer to prevent fallout, and I found that some mascaras with fibers can really bother me, so I avoid those.

HTH!
