OK - In my last order I picked up full sizes of Copper Penny and Marcasite gel liners and a sample size of the Scuba. I love blues but find that often dark blues tend to look a little green on me, and I just don't like the way I look in green eyemakeup. Haven't yet figured out how to do it for myself yet, I guess.

Well, the Scuba is the most beautiful, deep, rich, saturated blue - like an indigo more than a navy. Rich, definitely not a green-based blue. So I ordered up a full size of that shade right away.

The Marcasite and Copper Penny are gorgeous! If you like Magnetism but sometimes find it a bit deeper than what you are after, then Marcasite will tickle your fancy! It is a beautiful midtone pearly grey, a very balanced one, neither yellow based nor overly blue based. Just soft and elegant and gorgeous!

Penny is a lovely lighter midtone - definitely deeper than it looks on my monitors (all the gel liners are richer in person than in the photos that display on my computers). Very pretty and fresh on its own - really makes green and blue eyes pop. Layered over Chocoalte Mousse (a rich espresso brown, and one that can sub for black on me)it is really gorgeous - a one-step eye, pretty without anything other than mascara. And it makes a great lower lash liner, too - avoids the darkness that can bring down your eyes, but gives definition and fullness to the lashline while providing a beautiful contrast with any eye color. If you are neutral to warm in skintone, you will likely find that Copper Penny is indispensable, no matter what color your eyes.

Now I can hardly wait until my Scuba comes and I can play with it in earnest!

My coloring - Fair, naturally curly dark red hair, freckles (light golden), combo to oily skin, use 1W Glissade and/or Voile, although I can and have worn 1Y, 1Y/L, and 1Y/L/00 at different times. Would describe my coloring as neutral - not a classic Autumn, not really a Winter, maybe more of a Late Fall?

How lightly or softly can the gel liners be applied? and how to apply softly/lightly for "eyes of advanced years"... ? The more I read about the gel liners, the more I am intrigued.

Jane, I find them to be very easy to apply lightly and softly, and they are blendable, too. Try Marcasite, Copper Penny, Scuba and Endangered for sure! Chocolate Mousse is a beautiful, rich espresso brown, and even though it is a dark shade, it can be softened, and it mixes beautifully with the Copper Penny.

I also love Tanzanite when I wear cooler shades on my eyes - really makes them throw green!

Hi, all: Well, she's gone and done it. Put the gel liners on sale she 'as. Drool

I have the scuba dive and its gorgeous. I'd like something a bit more subtle for every day wear - what would you recommend for my coloring? I was thinking the copper penny shad perhaps? I'm interested in your opinions.

Aletha, Copper Penny is GORGEOUS!! It is a medium-light tone, and so very subtle, but the color really brings out any amber or green tones in your eyes. Tanzanite is also gorgeous - and plums look FABULOUS on brown eyes. I think with your coloring, I'd be inclined to gravitate toward the Tanzanite myself. But both are so pretty. Why not get both!! You won't be sorry!

I thought about ordering the gel eyeliner, but am concerned about it drying out in the desert climate where I live. Anyone know whether that stuff can be stored in a rather warm and really dry environment?

Also, please let me know which shade goes best with light skin and blue eyes, and can be softened. I have small deepset eyes, and any dark color just makes 'em look even smaller.

Current Al favs: 2Y Voile; Corset rouge; Tidal Wave and Marcasite gel eyeliners; Brownish black mascara; Fiona eye lustre

Ow Ow! That's the sound of my arm being twisted.... Drool LOL. Thanks, Bridget. I mean, they are on sale, right?

Drew, that's a good question about the dry conditions where you live. Can't help you out there but I'm sure someone on this board will have some useful feedback for you.

I'm going to take a look at the colors again...

Drew: as I was looking at the colors I remembered my train of thought when I bought the scuba dive. I have dark brown eyes with some dark blue in them. So I bought the blue to bring out the blue in my eyes - Bridget's thoughts about the penny bringing out highlights is a great idea. If you look at your eyes what other colors are in there besides blue? I'm sure there's a shade that would compliment them beautifully, and I think maybe if you get one that has some pearliness to it that might help your eyes actually look bigger?

Aletha, glad I can help! I'm a collector of these gorgeous little pots of intensity, and I was never one for eyeliner before. I think that speaks volumes!

Drew, I think for your blue eyes I'd look at Ivy League, Copper, Marcasite and Tanzanite. All are on the softer end of the spectrum, and even applied in a thicker line are unlikely to overwhelm your eyes.

To choose a color, look at the iris carefully - you'll see all sorts of different color flecks.Just choose one (or more) of them as a liner color. Then think about what sorts of shadows you most enjoy wearing -

Copper Penny is great with any neutrals, golds, even softer and redder plum tones.

Marcasite - goes with everything - it's a soft and pearly grey shade, so pretty!

Ivy League - for greys, golds, greens and so on.

Tanzanite - wear with browns, plums, deeper blues, grey, neutrals, golds. It's as versatile as Marcasite!

Hope this helps a little bit!

My eyes have lots of colors in them, but they look blue in photos (esp. when I wear red). The most visible color is a brownish smudge around the iris. The rims of my eyes are dark blue. From what I can tell on my monitor, marcasite looks like it would be a fantastic color. I still need to know if the gel liner can be successfully stored in dry, warm weather. I'd hate for it to dry up.

Sorry about forgetting to answer that question, Drew - got distracted by something, I suppose.

Yes, the gel liners will stay fresh and ready no matter what the climate. Just be sure to get the lid on straight (no misthreading) and tight.

Remember - MANY cosmetics companies have been selling gel liners for a few years now, all over the country, and all over the world. As long as the lid is on properly, you won't have any problems at all.

(The information on the gel liners page about the samples being drier is there because once the product is removed from the glass jar with the tight fitting lid, it can dry out. Even in a ziploc baggie, which we all suppose are airtight, but which aren't really PERFECTLY airtight. So the samples are often stiffer or even dry once they arrive in our homes. So the sample baggies will tell you what a specific shade is like in real life as opposed to on the monitor, but can't be guaranteed to be useable.

The actual product, however, has a perfectly fitting lid which keeps the product fresh. I have a few gel liners from other brands which I have had for a year and a half now, maybe longer. They are still perfectly fine!! )

And Marcasite is a beauty! Very soft and still defined. One of my faves, along with Magnetism, which is a bit deeper and with a golden pearl to it, while the Marcasite has a silvery pearl aspect. It would be STUNNING on you!!

Well, I ordered Penny. Its not even here yet and I'mconvinced I must try Magnetism. I tried to line with loose minerals again and I must say I prefer the gel....

Penny is fantastic! I'm wondering about how purple/red the Tanzanite is? I like plum, but don't like purples/reds near my eyes. I'd like a blackberry type deep plum brown or black/grey based one, though. What are your thoughts on the base of Tanzanite?

I'm glad you like Penny, Aletha!

Tanzanite - how to best describe her. Not a sharp reddened purple at all - nothing about this color makes me look like I've got a head cold or allergy eyes (and some purples to exactly that). More of a slightly greyed plum (not too much browned down, not muddy, maybe muted a bit with some grey). In eyeshadows, it is plummier than Eggplant matte (which to me seems quite a beautiful, but very cool, eggplant color - just like the veggie). It's more in the family of Lisianthus, Cocoamauve, Magnolia, and Swoon. a beautiful and well-balanced shade with gorgeous depth and saturation, even though it's not dark or bright.

Pretty pretty!

Bridget, I ordered some Voile 2Y today (while on sale) and then decided to add Marcasite gel liner to my cart. I can't wait until it gets here! An Al order is just the thing to relieve house hunting stress. Wink
