Seriously, I love this one. I have never been one for silvery make up... I tend to use black and red a lot. I ordered the Rocks samples, and I've yet to use red. There's just too many reds to choose from, really. I'm nervous about choosing one (I'm trying to find one that matches my shoes, weird, I know). BUT I've used Adrenochrome twice now. I know, that's not a lot, but it looks amazing. So shiny. It really works with anything that I choose to wear. It's perfect for when I'm indecisive about what colour to use. The sparkles get all over though. Does anyone know how to make that stop happening? I use sealant, but maybe I'm putting too much on the brush?

I love adrenochrome too. You should try Fume as well. I loved it when I tried it ( it looks like foil!!!!) but it doesn't have the crazy sparkles that get all over like Adrenochrome. Love the pics, BTW Smile

Awesome photos! Did you try using a base before putting the shadow on? I usually do, but I still have to go over my undereye area with a qtip to rid myself of extra sparkles with some colors.

Looks great! Do you find that sparkles fall off your eyes during the day, or only when you apply the makeup? I always use an eyeshadow primer (non-AL, but I'm sure AL's primer and/or the Indelible Cream Eyeshadows would also work) and while I do always have a bit of sparklies fall off my brush onto my cheeks, I never have any sparklies fall off during the day. So I just do my eye makeup before the rest of my face so I can clean up the mess Smile (Also, the Fiber Optic brushes work well for sweeping up the eyeshadow fallout without messing up your foundation!)

Try a little less on the brush, and hold a piece of tissue under your eye to catch any wayward sparkles while you apply.

Looks good, and I just love the pic of you blowing on the dandelion!

I always put on my eye shadow first, and then clean up any excess, and then put on foundation, etc.

I love Adrenochrome on you!

I have recently discovered my way of ending the fallout. I have a round, palm size magnifying mirror. (I have a lighted makeup mirror in front of me on the table).

I look "down" into the small mirror. Since I'm not looking directly ahead into the mirror, but down into it, the mineral that falls from my brush, doesn't drop onto my cheek, but onto the mirror. I just have to clean the mirror off when I'm done.

I have found that putting on pigment this way also helps me to see my crease area better.

I've never used primer. I'd put that on my eye first, then still use sealant, right?

I like the looking down idea. It sounds simple.

It usually falls off when I put it on, then it just stays there. I'll try to put a tissue under my eye to catch it though. That's pretty clever.

Thanks!

Adrenochrome looks great on you! You are so pretty and it accents your eyes very nicely.

Sparkle "fall out" can occur for all kinds of reasons. Perhaps your application is a bit thick and that could be the culprit. Do you mix the Adrenochrome with sealant and then apply it with a brush? When "foiling," a thick application isn't always necessary to get good coverage. Ideally, you want it to be smooth and creamy like thin peanut butter.

Anyhow, you do look fabulous and I love that teal dress/top peaking out in the second photo.

edited to add: Oops, I see I was composing my response at the same time you were posting (I stopped to make some iced tea). Since you said your e/s fallout occurs when you're applying it, does that mean you're applying the e/s first and then putting the sealant over it to seal it in? If so, that could be the problem. I believe it's easier to apply if you use the method I described above and you won't have fallout issues from applying the e/s dry first.

Sealant is not necessary with primer to prevent fallout. However, you can still use sealant to "foil" the eyeshadow, using Robyn's method to mix the eyeshadow and sealant before applying. Foiling eyeshadows brings out the shimmer and is also great for making liquid eyeliners out of your eyeshadows (a technique called "wetlining")! You can also foil/wetline with other liquids too, such as water, contact solution, whatever works for you....

As an example, Cin's wet application here is the same as foiling. You can see the difference it makes for some colors!

I dip my brush in the sealant, then I put the in a little hill of the eye shadow. Basically, I make a huge mess of the bathroom. I should probably mix it the way Robyn says, since that actually makes more sense than what I've been doing.

You can mix eye shadow with water? Really?

Sure, just start with a tiny drop! Or you can just dab a wet brush into a bit of dry shadow (similar to what you're doing now - but try using only a tiny bit of shadow, not a big pile). That may still work better for colors without lots of sparkle for fallout, though Smile

I have sensitive eyes and the Eyeliner Sealant bothers me, so I've tried a few other mediums. I always mix the shadow + liquid on a clean surface first. Unfortunately, no matter what liquid I use (even water or my eye drops), it makes my normally dry eyes water! Confused I have weird eyes .... so I've given up on foiling/wetlining, I just use shadows on top of primers, drylining shadows, and gel eyeliners Smile

Also, try to avoid getting any moisture in your eyeshadow jars. Bacteria cannot survive in mineral makeup and so it essentially doesn't expire; however, if you introduce moisture it provides an environment where bacteria can live!

I just put a drop of sealant or water directly onto the bathroom counter, a small glass kitchen dish, or the lid of the e/s jar if I have a full size of it. Then I sprinkle a small amount of e/s directly onto the liquid and mix with a brush (a taklon concealor brush works really well). Oh, I just remembered that Melissa (momof2angels) has a tutorial on youtube showing the foiling technique. I'll see if I can find it.

Here is the tutorial. Keep in mind, she uses water on her brush and dips it directly in the baggie. As she says on her video, some people may not agree with this due to bacteria contamination; however, I use the same technique when I wet line my liners (I only have sample baggies of liners). If you don't want to dip your brush directly into the baggie, you can sprinkle a small amount of e/s onto another surface.
