Hi Aficionadas!

Is there any trick to using the Rocks! glitters if you haven't bought the sealant? Not to get all overly glitty, but just to put a nice light wash of sparkles over the eyelids. Plus, I don't want to use it as a liner, so I probably don't need the sealant anyway. I just got my jar of Shake It Up, and I'm in LOVE with the color, it's even more beautiful than in the sample online!

But I brushed on a tiny bit of it over my eyelids and could barely see it. Any ideas? I do use a lid primer, then Pure Concealer over that as a base. I do my URFP to set it all, then I do my eyemakeup, all powder shadows. I don't like cream shadows because they just don't last on me or they crease.

What do you think my best game plan is to get Rocks! glitter to stay on my lids, even just a little?

Put on your eye shadow primer, and then use a jumbo eye shadow pencil to give it a bit of a sticky base.

Btw, which creme eye shadows have you tried?

The only good ones I've found are indelible cremes, MAC and Benefit. Every other one I've tried has creased like crazy.

You can use a good creme or jumbo eye pencil (like the nyx ones) to help give the glitter a bit of a sticky base to hold onto.

Thanks, Z!

I haven't used a cream shadow in quite a few years. I tend to have a problem with them in that, especially now that I'm using all mineral makeups and mineral concealers, they tend to gunk up the minerals. And since my eyelids are bright pink, I can't do a shadow first without concealing. And I don't like cream concealers either, because - same problem. Even the heavy duty ones like MAC - creamy stuff just doesn't work for me. So other than my shadow primers, I"m all minerals all the way - concealer, foundation, shadow. So I don't know what to do, since I'm worried that mixing the cream shadow over a mineral base will gunk it up. But maybe I'll try the shadow pencil and see. Thanks!

One thing you can try is this:
1. cleanse
2. moisturize as normal
3. put down an eye shadow primer (Aromaleigh's, UDPP, TFSI, whatever you like)
4. then put down a creme eye shadow such as bare necessity (or whatever color will enhance your eye shadow, i.e. I'd use rose frost if I was
wearing a pink or intergalactic if I wanted silver)
5. then I'd put down the rocks glitter.

I actually think that bare necessity or nude frost would look great with glitter patted onto them. Same with carbon.

One of my favorite ways ot apply shadow is to dampen the brush first.
Not so much that it is wet or that the shadow beads up but just enough to catch some extra pigment and make the shimmer and glitter show up better. You can just use plain water to do this.

you could dab a tiny bit of lotion or moisturizer on the lid with your finger, then dab on the glitter. This creates a damp slightly sticky base and then when it dries it just ... well... dries. lol . you don't have any more stickyness or anything, just the glitter. This has worked for me for ages!

Thanks, ladies! I'll try these out!

Z, when you say you pat the glitter on - do you do it with your fingertips, or dab it on with a brush?

Z, you were totally right! I stopped at Sephora on my way home and bought the Benefit cream shadow in "RSVP", which is a really pretty champagne tone.

I came home, cleaned off my eyemakeup, and started from scratch. I did my eye cream, my primer, and then did a light layer of the cream shadow (so far, no creasing - fingers crossed!). Then I patted my "Shake It Up" on with my shadow brush, and voila! I now have Rocks! glitter staying put on my lids! Thanks again, I really appreciate it!

Okay, I did the worst thing possible to test out the staying power - I slept with my eye makeup on last night, LOL! But it worked - I still had lovely glittery lids this morning, and the pillow didn't! So of course, I cleaned my gross eyeballs up this morning and did everything clean and fresh, and it looks awesome!

Thanks again, ladies!
