My sister just had a sleep over and I was giving her friends make-overs and then just for the heck of it I gave myself one as well. It came out REALLY GREAT I wish I would have taken pictures but they wouldn't have come out great anyway.

Anywho. I applied LadyStarDust all over my lid with RasberryBeret applied over LSD (HAHAHA I just realized that LadyStarDusts's initials are LSD too funny for words!) on the outer part of my lid. Then I applied MoonageDaydream in my crease and afterwards used more LSDSmile all over lid and to blend MD out a bit. After the application was over I realized that all the silver sparkles from LSD were nearly gone even though I had applied so much shadow! It looked like my eye look was nearly entirely matte (BRIGHT but matte). Does anyone else get this problem when blending out Rocks! colors? I didn't have this problem with BlackAngel or GooGooMuck so I'm wondering may be it is just that particular shade because the shimmer is more chunky...

woah. LONG POST. hopefully you guys stayed with me through that! Anyway of keeping the glitter/shimmer in my Rocks! while still being able to blend??

A lot of the Rocks! require some kind of sticky surface to help them stay - I just got help from some of the ladies with "Shake It Up", and it worked! Cleanse your eye surface, do your eye cream, do your eyeshadow primer, and then put on a cream shadow - all this combined will give the glittery stuff a sticky surface to hang onto.

Yep, I would recommend using some sort of cream base like the indelible cream eye shadows or a Nyx Jumbo eye pencil.

thanks ladies! i tried foiling them today and it worked pretty well. they were obviously harder to blend out but the effect was sparkly and spectacular! ill be doing a foiled rocks look for the challenge this week probably.

ill also have a go at using a nyx jumbo eyeshadow pencil for my base as well. normally i just use TFSI but perhaps its not sticky enough for rocks.

thanks for the suggestions!

If I use sticky base (AL's base) I apply an oil banishing base first, like the cream shadows. So if you experience creasing, I would suggest doing that.

Also, I have luck patting the shadow on dry in little bits (using a very little bit at a time on the brush to prevent fallout) and building up the intensity in layers. Since I pat on only a little bit at a time with a precise brush, I don't need to blend as much. Then I dampen my brush with sealant, and run the brush over wherever I have applied the shadow dry.

I use TFSI or Aromaleigh's base first.
Then I use the Nyx Jumbo eye pencil or an indelible cream eye shadow.
The cream or pencil makes it stick better.

Cool! Here's my "recipe", in order of how I did it:

1. Clinique All About Eyes eye cream.
2. Too Faced Shadow Insurance primer.
3. Benefit cream shadow (I have "RSVP", which is a nice neutral champagne color).
4. Then my Rocks! patted lightly over that with a shadow brush.

This would probably work with whatever products you like best, but that's just an example.
